After hearing the huge, ugly lump of fused flesh before them spout such nonsense, not only Karl — the fire Mage, whose temper had always been foul to begin with — but the rest of them as well, after doubting their own ears for a moment, grew angrier still. The rage was so great it made them burst out laughing without meaning to.
"Are you insulting us? Insulting noble Mages?!"
Five spells slammed into the virus at once, blasting it into nothing. Then Karl said darkly, "Looks like the rat's scared. We must be close to him now. I'm going to tear him apart, no matter who he is!"
Adam loathed pointless fighting, and he wanted even less to slaughter his own kind. Now that the Fifth Elemental Tower had issued the Final Battle order, it meant this trial had entered its final stage, and every preparation he had made was meant to end this war trial — which he found rather dull — ahead of schedule. At a time like this, rather than killing these newly promoted Mages who had come to make trouble for him, it was better to drive them off and add some strength to the decisive battle on the other side.
The devil came to Adam's side, the very picture of grievance. "Master, they destroyed the virus avatar. They show no sign at all of wanting to leave, and they say they're definitely going to tear you apart."
