#163 Now, Let’s Blow It Up I had arranged to have dinner with my friends, something we hadn’t done in a long while. Considering how many eyes were on us, I deliberately set the meeting at a restaurant in Gyeonggi Province, not in Seoul. When I arrived, only Myeong-soo was there.
“You came early?”
“Yeah, you’re here?”
“What about the others?”
“They’ll be here soon. Sit down.”
At Myeong-soo’s urging, I took off my coat, handed it to Section Chief Ma, and stepped into the room.
“How is Chairman Cheon doing?”
“The same.”
“It’s madness, even with all that money. I can’t understand how, right after coming back to Korea after so long, someone immediately thinks of filing a lawsuit.”
Myeong-soo grumbled as he poured me a glass of soju. I lifted the glass and let the rising drink settle.
“Let’s have a drink.”
The cheerful clink of glasses meeting rang out. The soju sliding down my throat tasted unusually bitter.
“That thing, let’s blow it up now.”
I set down the empty glass and broached the subject. Myeong-soo’s eyes narrowed.
“What thing? You mean Kim Jung-geun?”
Though I’d only said “that thing,” Myeong-soo had hit the core immediately. I nodded silently.
“Blow it up already? We were going to time it with next year’s nominations to create an issue.”
