#162 Who is this person?
“Chairman Seo went into the Blue House?”
For several days, I met with newspaper owners who had connections, telling them not to run articles even if an order came down from Ilseong. I lured the owners by promising to push far bigger advertisements if Ilseong threatened them with ad revenue.
But while I was dealing with the media, I received word that Chairman Seo Yong-geon had gone into the Blue House.
“He won’t attack directly...”
Since Kim Hak-kwon had been badly burned by me once, he wouldn’t act rashly. The Kim Hak-kwon administration was fighting tooth and nail to break free of the IMF regime as quickly as possible. At this rate, it seemed we might be free of IMF interference by next year.
Kim Hak-kwon must know better than anyone what would happen if he got on my bad side right now. There was no way he’d openly defy me.
“Let’s just wait and see how they come at us.”
Still, I had to keep an eye on things. I gave Section Chief Ma his orders. A few days passed without any particular incident.
Then Hyeon-woo, who was in the prosecution, called.
“A massive investigation into the Geukseong Group is about to start. The target is Chairman Lee Sang-geun.”
A name I hadn't expected came out of Hyeon-woo’s mouth. Chairman Seo Yong-geon’s move had gone beyond what I’d predicted.
