Ailin happily waved her stone ball around, showing off to the two people on the castle rooftop — though she didn’t really know what was worth boasting about, she just felt inexplicably joyful.
There was sunshine, and that made her happy.
The grass was green, which made her happy.
There were many sounds around, which made her happy.
Someone was waiting for her in the distance, and her actions would receive a response... all of these things were reasons to be happy.
Yusheng and Huli jumped down from the castle.
Ailin climbed onto Yusheng’s shoulder with ease, then let go of the hand holding the Ominous Wanderer Star, letting it continue circling around her head.
Suddenly, Yusheng furrowed his brows and turned to look at the stone ball floating next to the little doll’s head.
He wasn’t sure if it was just his imagination, but the rotation of that stone ball seemed to freeze for a moment as his gaze fell upon it.
Ailin grabbed at Yusheng’s hair absentmindedly. “What’s up?”
“This ball... just now it sounded like it was humming,” Yusheng frowned. “Didn’t you hear it?”
“Nope,” Ailin shook her head. “This thing’s been really quiet all along.”
Yusheng stared at the Ominous Wanderer Star for a while, then finally withdrew his gaze.
After thinking carefully for a moment, he spoke seriously: “Ailin.”
“Hmm?”
