Epilogue, Not the End, but the Beginning (3)
A few days later.
The funeral was held.
It was a ceremony to honor those who had lost their lives in the war, and to commemorate the death of Hans.
From early morning, people flocked to Dmitry, and they saw Roman Dmitry standing watch, even before the funeral had begun.
Everyone knew what that meant.
Hans was a very special person to Roman Dmitry, so key figures cautiously approached him to speak.
The King of Cairo.
Daniel Cairo stood side-by-side with Roman Dmitry.
“As the King of Cairo, I say that all lives are equally precious, but that is a blatant lie. As you know, I too had someone special. Count Nicholas. If it were not for him, who supported a young king who was nothing, I would not be here today.”
He turned his head.
The eyes of a strong man, no longer fitting the description of a young king, looked toward Roman Dmitry.
“Baron Hans must have been happy. At least you were with him in his final moments, were you not?”
“Thank you.”
“Not at all.”
It was a grateful sentiment.
Count Nicholas had died a gruesome death in the war against Cronos, so offering such advice must not have been an easy matter for him.
Yet, he readily mustered the courage for Roman Dmitry’s sake.
Thirty years had passed, and he, now called the heart of Cairo, had become a giant capable enough of handling such emotions.
