Far to the north, on Moonlight Peak,
a vast expanse of snow blanketed the sky, so thick it seemed as if even the boundless heavens were draped in a layer of silver frost.
For thousands of miles around, all was a lone shade of white.
Yet atop the peak fluttered a streak of crimson.
Bei Shuang wore a bright red cloak, standing alone at the summit, staring fixedly against the biting wind.
No one knew how long she had been standing there; the continually falling snow had already reached up to her waist.
“Bei Shuang, sister, you should go back earlier, or you’ll freeze yourself.”
Not far behind her, three figures drifted in the distance.
The three women were all dressed in pale cream long gowns, their golden-threaded boots lightly touching the snow, leaving no trace behind.
Bei Shuang seemed not to hear them.
She remained motionless, eyes locked toward the south.
Three thousand miles away lay Yunzhou.
Once beneath that sky of blue clouds, once this land was graced by a youth in a simple blue robe.
“Bei Shuang, come back!”
