Yu Zhenren had only seen He Dao once, many years ago.
Back when he ranged the land, He Dao had long been in seclusion; Yu had dealt more with Xiyue… but at a glance he knew the visitor really was He Dao.
This was, in its way, a historic meeting of the former leaders of righteousness and demonkind in Shenzhou — though nowadays saying “righteous and demonic” felt a little ridiculous.
He Dao and Yu Zhenren exchanged a smile and didn’t press the point, as if they were old friends who’d known each other for years rather than enemies across ten thousand years.
There was no need to belabor it; it only brought a melancholy sigh for how the world had changed.
“I heard your realm fell, and now it seems restored?” Yu Zhenren poured He Dao a cup of Qingming wine. “This time isn’t long. Did the sect’s teachings becoming whole make Taiqing easier? Or is it that falling then rebuilding is simpler?”
