After leaving the city far behind, Seolhwa arrived at a mountain ridge in Yiyang. Someone approached from behind as she stood in the night wind, gazing at Yiyang’s lights in the distance.
“Master.”
It was Eunwol.
“I heard you had something to give that person.”
Still gazing at Yiyang, Seolhwa took out the cloth pouch she had carefully kept close and held it out to Eunwol. Eunwol approached her, tucked the pouch directly into his robes, and looked toward Yiyang.
“Did you obtain what you wanted?”
“Thanks to you.”
“That is a relief. That person was satisfied with meeting you as well. She said it had been an enjoyable time after such a long while.”
“Really? That’s good.”
There could hardly have been many chances for him to enjoy himself while he was in the Blood Sect.
“Hey, Eunwol.”
Seolhwa turned to him. Her expression in the moonlight looked somehow relieved. Eunwol met her sparkling gaze for a moment before lowering his head.
“Please speak.”
“You don’t need to try so hard anymore.”
“…Pardon?”
“You don’t need to pretend to be loyal to me. I know why you’re trying to cooperate with me now.”
