"I have an idea."
At Simon's words, Tenerife looked at him with a questioning expression.
But seeing the serious look in his eyes, her own expression hardened with resolve.
"You have a way."
"Yes, but before that, there's something we must address. I understand the background, but the issue Keygen has with this hasn't been resolved yet."
"You're talking about the First Legion."
She closed her eyes.
"Yes, this is all a disaster of my own making."
Tenerife wasn't the type to simply accept her fate.
The homunculus doll was originally meant for emergencies, but Tenerife had turned her own body into a living barrier to suppress the Ghost Palace, spending most of her time active with her soul transferred to the homunculus.
In a way, she roamed the world thinking of the homunculus as her true body.
It didn't seem like a major problem at first, but over time, an issue arose.
Her true body, left empty of its soul, contracted a disease that caused it to rot.
It was an incurable disease, unrecorded on the Continent.
Even when her soul returned to her body, the disease showed no signs of healing, and Tenerife was told she didn't have long to live.
Faced with this reality, she finally came to her senses, as if doused with cold water.
"It's laughable, isn't it?"
Tenerife muttered, closing her eyes.
