The freezing air made the tribe's blooming flowers and flowing streams ice over in a heartbeat; the cold hung thick and would not disperse, and elf after elf shivered uncontrollably.
Yet it did not seem to sober them up. If anything, it drove them wilder. The clan head ground his teeth and brandished his magic staff, roaring, "Kill it! Take its corpse, and we join the Dragon-Slaying Organization!"
Adam's grin split even wider, cold light glinting along his fangs, and in the end he laughed out loud. "The Dragon-Slaying Organization? Interesting. Looks like my luck is good — getting such an important piece of news so easily."
Adam was not the least bit tense. The forest elves were many, but frankly, numbers made no difference whatsoever to him. "Many ants can bite an elephant to death" only holds within the same tier of power, and the forest elves had no idea what kind of monster they were facing.
