Chapter of the God of Justice, Hades - (2)
A stern gaze looked down upon her.
The majesty emanating from the lord of the underworld, the king of the dead.
Dike, kneeling before Hades, the king of the underworld, thought to herself.
Only the god before her was worthy of the title of the God of Justice.
Indeed, in her eyes, which could discern between good and evil, there were not many gods who were deserving of such a title.
Regardless of their rank, most gods were self-centered and acted on their whims.
There were often cases where they showed mercy one day, only to be enraged the next day at the slightest hint of disrespect to their divinity.
Gods tended to maintain the same nature they were born with, unless in extraordinary circumstances... thus, mortals had to suffer endlessly.
It goes without saying that unfairness was rampant even among the gods, dictated by the logic of power.
Only a few gods, including Hestia, consistently showed mercy.
On the other hand...
Among the many fickle gods, akin to natural disasters, there was one who stood out for his character, or rather, his divine nature.
Not only did he not wreak havoc upon mortals, but he also admonished the gods and upheld justice.
Mortals sang praises of mercy at his touch, which reached not only the dead but also the living.
