The scene unfolded in the Slanting Moon Three Star Cave, within the Jade Terrace.
The Bull Demon King led the Pilgrim Hui’an into the cave, where the True Man sat serenely atop a high platform.
Pilgrim Hui’an approached respectfully, offering both a bow and congratulations on the True Man’s great advancement in Dharma power.
The True Man smiled and nodded, saying, “Respected Hui’an, no need for such formalities. But now that you have come here, surely you have come under the command of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva to see me. Since you have come, please tell me the message of Avalokiteshvara.”
Hui’an clasped his hands in a respectful seal, bowed once more, then spoke: “True Man, I come by the command of the Bodhisattva, inviting you to journey to Mount Luojia in the South Sea. The Bodhisattva wishes to discuss a matter with you—a matter concerning the Nine Cauldrons. It concerns those in the mortal realm attempting to secretly occupy the Nine Cauldrons. This matter is somewhat connected to the Bodhisattva as well, hence the sending of me to invite you.”
The True Man listened closely but remained silent for a moment.
