Inherited skills come from one's parents and do not require later learning; the Fire Tooth is a signature move that most Fire Tooth Dogs inherit. Although inherited skills are innate, one cannot expect a newborn beast to perform them immediately. Everything follows a gradual process. Just like humans are born able to eat, they must start with milk and grow their teeth first.
The proficiency of skills begins at a basic level, and then progresses to mastery. Basic-level skills have limited power and are newly acquired. For low-tier skills, once they reach the basic level, one can typically use them. However, for high-tier skills, even if they reach the basic level, they may not be successfully performed every time—that's simply a matter of not being proficient enough.
The Fire Tooth is a mid-tier skill. Normally, a Fire Tooth Dog should only reach the basic level (2/100) of the Fire Tooth skill and shouldn't be able to use it so easily. Yet, it managed to do so. Qiao Sang guessed that as long as the skill was listed in the Beastmaster Codex, it could be unleashed. Of course, this was merely her speculation; she would have to wait until the Fire Tooth Dog learned higher-tier skills to confirm it.
As Qiao Sang's consciousness pulled back, she wanted to explore the points system further, but it was clear that this was not the time. She noticed that the troublesome child was still sitting on the ground, the Desert-Tailed Fox covered in injuries, with blood on its neck. She took out her phone and dialed 661.
"Hello, is this the Beastmaster Emergency Center? This is Hanggang Beastmaster Center. There's an injured Desert-Tailed Fox here; could you please come as soon as possible?"
"Someone has already called? Oh, then it's all fine."
Qiao Sang hung up and ignored the stunned girl beside her. She picked up her Fire Tooth Dog and prepared to head home, only to turn around and find a crowd gathering behind her. Humans have an innate curiosity for drama; in just a moment of fighting, most of the venue's spectators had gathered around, some even holding their phones to record.
Feeling her scalp tingle, Qiao Sang clutched her Fire Tooth Dog and started to leave, with the Plump Dove trailing closely behind.
"Little sister, I see you have great potential. Would you be interested in becoming a streamer?" a young man with dyed red hair approached her.
"Thank you, but no," Qiao Sang replied, walking past him.
"Can I have a battle with you and your beast?" a boy with a cap chased after her.
"No," Qiao Sang rejected him.
"Student, which school do you attend?" an aunt nearby inquired with concern.
Qiao Sang was left speechless.
When she returned home, her mother was out, but there was a bag of red jujube fruits on the table, the favorite of fire-type beasts. These fruits, which could enhance the physique of fire-type extraordinary beings, cost 700 alliance coins each. Eating them occasionally was fine, but eating them every day was simply too much.
Qiao Sang stared blankly at the red jujube fruits for a moment. She picked one up and held it to the Fire Tooth Dog's mouth, smiling, "Here, eat this."
The Fire Tooth Dog sniffed it. At the beast base, it had only eaten the standard ration of compressed cubes and had never had this before. The smell was delightful, and it looked similar to the fruit that grew on the tree near its old home, just a different color. Sadly, it had missed that tree's fruits.
Without hesitation, the Fire Tooth Dog swallowed the red jujube fruit in one gulp.
"Tooth!"
It exclaimed in surprise, its eyes wide open.
This food is delicious!
Seeing it finish, Qiao Sang's consciousness connected to the Beastmaster Codex.
[Name: Fire Tooth Dog]
[Attribute: Fire]
[Level: Beginner (63/1000) +]
[Skills: Bite (Basic 73/100) +, Charge (Mastery 135/500) +, Fire Tooth (Basic 2/100) +]
[Points: 50]
Nothing had changed.
Qiao Sang frowned; this didn’t make sense. After the battle today, her stats should have changed, indicating the Fire Tooth Dog had made progress. Eating fruits like the red jujube, which could enhance the physique of fire-type extraordinary beings, shouldn’t yield no reaction.
Could it be that she needed to wait for digestion?
"Tooth!"
The Fire Tooth Dog tugged at Qiao Sang's hand with a paw.
Qiao Sang chuckled and took out another red jujube fruit to feed it. The Fire Tooth Dog quickly gobbled it down.
After it finished, Qiao Sang once again connected her consciousness to the Beastmaster Codex.
[Name: Fire Tooth Dog]
[Attribute: Fire]
[Level: Beginner (64/1000) +]
[Skills: Bite (Basic 73/100) +, Charge (Mastery 135/500) +, Fire Tooth (Basic 2/100) +]
[Points: 50]
It had changed!
The level indicator shifted from Beginner (63/1000) + to Beginner (64/1000) +!
Though it was only an increase of one, it confirmed that her guess was indeed correct!
However…
Qiao Sang glanced at the four remaining red jujube fruits on the table, hesitated, then picked one up to offer it to the Fire Tooth Dog.
The Fire Tooth Dog hugged the red jujube fruit with its front paws and started munching on it. After having eaten two earlier, it found the third one too much to swallow in one go and could only eat it piece by piece.
Once it was done, it happily patted its belly.
As Qiao Sang connected to the Beastmaster Codex again, she fell into deep thought.
The stats hadn't changed.
Does it mean that two red jujube fruits were needed to gain a point?
She took another red jujube fruit and offered it again.
"Tooth."
The Fire Tooth Dog patted its belly signaling that it was full.
"Good boy, just one last one," Qiao Sang said, gently petting its head.
The Fire Tooth Dog looked up at her, swayed its red tail, then lowered its head to eat again.
Within the Beastmaster Codex, Qiao Sang noticed the Fire Tooth Dog's level had changed to Beginner (65/1000) +.
Her guess was indeed correct; it took two red jujube fruits to increase a single point.
Qiao Sang turned her gaze to the bottom of the screen displaying the points, and with a thought, she allocated all of them to the level of Beginner (65/1000) +.
[Name: Fire Tooth Dog]
[Attribute: Fire]
[Level: Beginner (115/1000) +]
[Skills: Bite (Basic 73/100) +, Charge (Mastery 135/500) +, Fire Tooth (Basic 2/100) +]
[Points: 0]
The numbers had indeed gone up…
Qiao Sang's breath quickened.
A single red jujube fruit costs 700 alliance coins, so two would be 1400 alliance coins. To increase a single point, it cost 1400. With 885 points left, that equated to 1770 red jujube fruits.
That total would be…
1,239,000 alliance coins...
Heavens! That could buy an extraordinary beast with superpowers!
Qiao Sang almost cried out in excitement.
This point system could directly increase her strength, indicating she had saved so much money! Additionally, the Fire Tooth Dog could gain corresponding points from both battles and consuming strength-enhancing items!
Combined with the points boost, she could raise her Fire Tooth Dog to a mid-tier beast in three or even four times less the usual training time!
Was this not a golden finger?
After a few seconds, Qiao Sang took out her phone and searched for all topics related to the Beastmaster Codex, yet, not a single one mentioned her peculiar situation.
As for those who self-awakened, they only had an advantage in their brain domain, developing 3% to 6% faster than those who awakened naturally, making it easier for them to reawaken the Beastmaster Codex and have a chance to reach higher realms; nothing seemed particularly special.
Gradually, Qiao Sang calmed down.
Her initial guess had indeed been confirmed, and now she was merely validating that her thoughts were accurate; besides, given that she had traveled to another world, having a golden finger was hardly surprising.
Right.
Nothing special about it…
The Fire Tooth Dog looked up at Qiao Sang, its gaze full of confusion.
Why does its Beastmaster look so foolishly happy while staring at the air?
