There were many flying monsters among them, the most fatal of which were dragons. Of course, not just anyone could tame a dragon, but dragons were not the only creatures that could fly. The most common flying mounts were primarily the Heavenly Horse or Pegasus.
A little rarer, faster, and fiercer were the Gryphon or Hippogriff. There were other flying monsters like the Wyvern, but they were rather difficult to tame and not quite suitable for military use. And the Dragonhawk was, without a doubt, the elite among flying units.
This type of hawk itself possessed the bloodline of a dragon, belonging to a kind of half-dragon. As for why a dragon could hybridize with a hawk, one would have to say that a dragon's tastes were unusually strange. In a monster manual, from A to Z, every creature had been mounted by a dragon.
Although a dragon's lack of integrity left one speechless, it had to be said that as the most powerful creatures in the mortal world, anything even remotely related to a dragon was quite formidable. As a half-dragon, the Dragonhawk inherited the breath ability from its draconic ancestry.
