Cold wind and bleak rain, mist and smoke weaving over the waves.
In the deepest reaches of the outer sea, for a long stretch of time, the incarnation of the Old Snail Sage stood silently, motionless.
For fleeting moments, he watched as Dao Zhouzi’s dharma image was swept away, wrapped in a flowing torrent of five-colored streams.
He watched as that person’s form fragmented and collapsed from within, along with the vast and overwhelming blood water dissolving completely into the outer sea, wiping away all traces of that pestilential evil qi.
Yet perhaps it was merely a trick of the mind, for at this moment, the Old Snail Sage’s incarnation still felt that in the thick, lingering watery mist around him, the ominous five plagues and five poisons of evil qi still permeated.
This pestilential energy seemed to exist everywhere.
Even when thin to the eye, wherever spirit lights shone, those places were hothouses where such malignant qi bred and grew.
But when the Old Snail Sage’s boundless thoughts and sensations reached out, his divine sense was only able to detect the spirit lights themselves.
It was as if the pestilential qi didn’t really exist, and the Old Snail Sage was merely frightening himself.
