Arwin blinked for a moment. She had thought it would be a rather shocking request, but on the surface, there seemed to be no change.
“Explain yourself.”
“I need a variable.”
Receiving the help of the elves was certainly a favorable turn of events. However, looked at objectively, it was no different from a swarm of ants joining forces with bees. The fact that we were bugs to the opponent remained unchanged.
In the end, the idea of joining forces to fight and win was merely absurd; it was closer to fighting together only to die together. While we might buy a little time as the number of meat shields increased, it was a waste to consume the elves for something as trivial as that.
What I needed now was a blind spot that even Taeheo would find difficult to predict.
“You said you were a 9-Star mage yourself, right? If not for Taeheo, you would have reached the Heavenly Realm, wouldn't you?”
“Hard to say. Though it's most likely that I would have been the one.”
Arwin answered with a light affirmation, yet she still showed confidence. And rightly so. Considering she was old even among the elves, she was likely the first mage to reach 9-Star.
“And you’d be in a precarious state.”
“…Hmm.”
Arwin smiled as if she understood something, then replied.
“You speak of variables, but I wondered what you meant. So you are suggesting we gamble.”
