Mingtai’s identity—he was the Sword Tower Supreme’s swordbearer; every spirit sword in the sword vault was his junior.
But between swords there is no elder or junior the way humans define it.
That’s a human distinction.
Between spirit swords there is only strength and weakness; the weak submit to the strong.
From that perspective, Mingtai could be considered the eldest brother of every spirit sword in the vault.
As long as he wanted, all the spirit swords would submit to him and follow him out of the sword vault.
Mingtai knew how high his status in the vault was—he was like an emperor.
If he went in, nothing else would matter.
So he was sensible enough to move to the end of the line, to be the last to go in, giving everyone else a chance.
At the same time he called to Lu Yang, “Senior Brother Lu Yang, do you want to go in last with me? There are some things I can’t tell you openly, but I can promise this: if you find a sword you like when the time comes, I have a way to make that sword follow you.”
