Voices of commotion drifted over from somewhere in the distance. Chu Ge turned to look—it was the stretch where the surf ran high, and someone was out there surfing.
So Chu Ge asked Qiu Wuji, "Want to go give that a try?"
Qiu Wuji smiled and shook her head. She had no interest in such things.
It looked lively enough, true—plenty of people cheering from the sidelines. It did look like fun.
But she wasn't interested. That sort of activity was a bit beneath her.
Just like the amusement park and the movies back then—she'd had no real urge to play. Whatever a girl of this world was supposed to experience, seeing it once and giving it a try was enough; actually throwing herself in and genuinely wanting to play was beyond her.
Ten thousand years of cultivation had left her heart still as water about far too many things.
Qiu Wuji herself couldn't say why she always lost her composure and snapped at him. It really was unseemly.
Her not wanting to play seemed perfectly normal to Chu Ge. "You know, coming out to have fun, you always end up experiencing a lot less. Can't blame you—this stuff's just got no challenge for you."
