After Sobering Up
I faced off against farmers, fishermen, pack merchants, woodcutters, hunters, Taoists, shirtless men, swordsmen, ugly fellows, scythe-wielders, scholars who looked like they couldn't study, narrow-minded types, and more.
I asked, "Is it the dream of assassins to live a normal life?" The outfits of those surrounding me were plain and ordinary.
Still, just in case... they might have come to compete with me in a game of skipping stones, so I asked, "Anyone here for a stone-skipping match?"
The Taoist, who was about to check his hidden weapon, heard my words and quickly put it away.
I locked eyes with the Taoist and nodded.
"It's me. It's me."
They stood still, surrounding me.
Given the circumstances, they must have figured out my whereabouts when I left Heungmyo-bang for Myogae Mountain.
Someone must have followed me to Myogae Mountain, confirmed the existence of the Murim Alliance, and been taken aback.
Strangely enough, they didn't attack when I was with the Sword Demon, but now that I had returned alone, they seemed to have gathered.
By the way, it looked like they were waiting for someone.
While we waited together, I attempted to strike up a conversation.
"You useless bunch, unable to even smile or skip stones."
Those without a sense of ease and lacking compassion usually act like this.
