The Quasar’s dock in the imperial capital. Just a few years ago, this place had been packed with citizens of the capital. But not anymore.
The Quasar’s departures and arrivals had become an everyday occurrence for the capital’s residents. As a result, the dock was now crowded only with travelers. Anyone who looked up at the Quasar floating in the sky and expressed amazement was liable to be called unsophisticated.
In front of the ship, a reporter from the Magic Tower said to her colleagues, “It’s really unfair. I was amazed because it was amazing, and now I get called unsophisticated for it.”
“Hmm…? What do you mean?”
“Unlike those ignorant capital citizens, the Quasar’s operation is a marvel in itself.”
“Oh. You’re from the Magic Tower, right?”
“Yes.”
Whether it was a train or an airship, each was a recently invented means of transportation. But the difficulty of creating them was worlds apart. A train could be operated without the help of mages, provided there was enough wood.
The Quasar, however, was different. Its central principle remained unknown. Now that the principles of gravity had been explored in depth through the theory of relativity, the Quasar’s operating principle had become even more mysterious.
