Surviving the Apocalypse, Becoming Immortal Alone

Chapter 66 Thoughts on Launching

4 min read

On July 5th, which is a Friday, the book will go live at noon, just like the usual update time.

There will be three chapters released at noon, and another one at 7 PM.

Originally, in my new book storage, this book "Chaos" was only third in line. There were two others ahead of it: one is about ancient spiritual energy revival, which is very market-friendly, and the other is a comedic story set in a multiverse, with the worlds, story structure, and basic character setups all sorted out.

I used to think I couldn't take risks with new themes anymore. My senior's work was a product of the previous era, and now, in this anti-piracy age, if I didn’t create a highly popular market piece, I would really fall out of favor.

So, I initially didn’t plan to write this book. While building the world for it, I even took a picture of the outline on my little blackboard and shared it in the group...

Wow, I almost leaked the settings!!!

Luckily, I felt it was too risky and retracted it, heh.

So why did I decide to write this brand new theme?

I originally wanted to compare the beginnings of the three new books. When I got to the fourth chapter where Wei Na fires a gun, inspiration hit me hard. I couldn’t hold it back; a broken apocalyptic world unfolded in my mind. Since I needed to write more to counter the sugar control, I decided to write both books at once.

The day before I started writing, I asked a sister from the copyright department at the publishing house, and she replied that... apocalyptic stories are hard to sell.

This made me hesitate for a long time. No one wants to go against money. My senior's anime had become popular again, and I just needed to keep producing market-friendly stories with a big male lead and earn some easy money.

But if a creator doesn’t follow their own inspiration, what should they follow? Someone else’s inspiration?

So, I put the two books ahead of this one on hold, afraid I would regret it, and I gritted my teeth and released it!

I did it!

This left the editor a bit confused.

And so, this book began. It started with zero recommendations and quietly went live, but the number of readers kept growing.

I started deleting drafts and polishing them just like back in the days of my senior's work.

As for the launch results, I didn’t expect much. As long as it was better than "Abyss Walker" when it launched, I’d be happy. "Abyss Walker" had no leveling system and was a space opera, which went against market trends.

It was my worst-performing work in recent years, launching with an average of three thousand readers, but now it has an average of seventeen thousand.

Having gone through the pressure from "Abyss Walker," nothing can interfere with my writing state now.

In short! The results depend entirely on you, dear readers!

Next, I will focus on polishing this work "Chaos"!

To my old readers, if you see this message, please don’t impulsively subscribe based on my old works. Take a look at the story first, and if you like it, then consider paying.

I will continue to update steadily, pursuing quality in the writing. After finishing the main ending, I will add more chapters when the time is right, and once that’s settled, I’ll look for ways to boost the rankings and traffic, but first, I want to get the early story right.

A good story always comes first.

No story or theme can please everyone.

As for other things like status in the community, awards, titles, rankings, or whether I’m still relevant... none of these are as meaningful as a reader saying, "It’s good."

Also, the book title wasn’t chosen randomly; it was carefully thought out.

"Chaos" represents the main style of this book, "Solo Cultivation" is the main setting for the male lead, and "Apocalypse" is the background of the world. If changes are needed later, it could be changed to "Apocalyptic Solo Cultivation" or "Solo Ascension." If anyone has good title suggestions, feel free to share!

The first act, "Black Fire," is meant to lay the foundation of the world, written to feel urgent and oppressive. The overall style won’t remain heavy; there will be a journey from underground to sunlight.

The male lead’s name represents a development path for him—mechanical enlightenment.

Over the past six years, I’ve been practicing the creative philosophy of "constant innovation and expanding boundaries," trying out themes like spiritual energy revival, comedic steady flow, mountain and sea mythology, modern cultivation (which failed), space opera, father-son dual crossing, and now this one, sci-fi apocalypse combined with cultivation.

These are all part of my arsenal.

Once "Chaos" is completed, I will draw from these themes and old stories based on market trends, refining and producing new books from what I’ve already created.

Expanding my writing themes is the only way I’ve found to keep my passion for writing alive for at least twenty more years after careful thought.

I don’t want to repeat my senior’s successful formula, but I’m afraid that after repeating a couple of times, I might completely lose my love for writing.

I see storytelling as a lifelong career.

So according to my creative plan, regardless of how "Chaos" performs, I will take a break of six months to a year after finishing it to recharge, then start my next phase of more market-oriented writing.

In the future, I will continue to polish this book, prioritizing quality over speed, and strive to give this phase a satisfying conclusion.

Alright, let’s get back to the story.

Please subscribe and vote for the monthly ticket!

This is really important for the exposure this book will get later!
