“You—what are you doing here?”
Gao Huating blurted it out, then immediately wanted to slap herself.
Why did she let her shock show like that?
Hei Yao turned his head and gestured.
A silver-white mechanical body walked over and took the mechanical arm from Hei Yao’s hand.
Hei Yao wasn’t tall and his looks were nothing special, but he gave off a very mild, gentle air.
He smiled and flicked his brow at Gao Huating, speaking softly: “Long time no see. Come sit… don’t worry, I tracked you down half a month ago. If I wanted to kill you, I would’ve done it already.
Killing you would only make Wang Jixuan hate me more.
“I don’t want to be his number one enemy.”
Gao Huating felt a little stunned. Hei Yao shooed a few mechanical bodies away, then ordered them to go make some food; amusingly enough, the constructs grumbled and muttered the whole way as they went, full of indignation.
“See anything familiar?”
Hei Yao nodded his chin toward the machines. Gao Huating asked,“Familiar as what?”
“Mechanical life.”
“Aren’t they?”
“No.”Hei Yao leaned back in the reclining chair, massaging his brow wearily, and began to mutter in a strangely rambling way:“This is only my clumsy imitation of Her Majesty the Peony Queen.”
