Surviving the Apocalypse, Becoming Immortal Alone

Chapter 25 The Heart of the Dao!

9 min read

Wang Jixuan walked along the curved corridor for about twenty steps before turning a corner, and suddenly the space ahead opened up.

Two young women dressed in black bunny suits stepped forward, bowing slightly with their hands at their waists, showing off their deep cleavage confidently.

These two young girls seemed to be safe working here. After all, not many people would come to the perverted area of Joy City looking for normal sexual services.

The layout of the place wasn’t complicated. In the center was a dance floor, a DJ booth, and a performance stage, with circular sofas scattered around. There weren’t many customers at the moment. On the second floor, large windows made of bulletproof glass offered a view of some rather unsightly scenes inside.

[Heart of the Dao Damage Level: Minor.]

One of the bunny girls leaned in close to Wang Jixuan's ear and shouted, “Do you have a reservation?”

“My uncle sent me to find an agent named Goat Butt.”

“Oh? Zhou Tiantian!”

The bunny girl’s eyes lit up as she looked Wang Jixuan up and down.

Wang Jixuan thought for a moment. He wasn’t sure if he should sway his body a bit to fit in better with the loud music around him. This felt a bit beyond his understanding of refining his heart in the mortal world...

“Please wait a moment!”

The bunny girl raised her wrist to send a message and lifted the other end to take a picture of Wang Jixuan.

A few people approached from the entrance, likely gang members looking for fun. Two plump women led the way, followed by three skinny men who were chatting and laughing, their voices exaggerated.

They were typical low-level gangsters.

One bunny girl immediately went to greet them, while the other raised her hand, signaling Wang Jixuan to wait.

Wang Jixuan stood against the wall, clearing the way.

A heavily made-up woman, slightly plump and wearing a denim skirt and small leather boots, stared at Wang Jixuan’s face for a few moments before smiling and coming closer.

The two bunny girls suddenly looked tense.

One of the bunny girls tried to step in front of Wang Jixuan, but she was scared off by a fierce look from the woman.

The plump woman approached Wang Jixuan.

“New face? Just arrived? Quite handsome, and your eyes are nice.”

Wang Jixuan frowned slightly, sensing that the woman’s hands might not be very clean.

He meant, in every sense of the word.

The woman laughed, “Where are you from? I’m looking for a girlfriend lately, want to come with me?”

One of the bunny girls whispered, “Sister Cauliflower, this young man is a client of our manager, you…”

“Client? Just came down from the Central City? No wonder you smell like fresh meat.”

The plump woman’s eyes sparkled as she slowly moved closer to Wang Jixuan, almost touching him.

Wang Jixuan silently recited a calming mantra, trying hard to resist the urge to act.

What was that smell from this woman... was it body odor?

Aren’t water resources free?

“Friend,” Wang Jixuan said calmly, “I have someone I like.”

“Oh really? Tsk tsk.”

The plump woman’s left hand slowly slid along the wall, reaching toward Wang Jixuan’s lower abdomen, while she said, “Now that you’re down here, are your old women still with you? Why not change your mindset and be with me? I’ll take care of you, I’ll treat you well… Ah! That hurts! Let go!”

The people around them were clearly stunned.

They didn’t expect this skinny young man to actually make a move!

The plump woman’s wrist was gripped tightly by Wang Jixuan’s hand, which felt like an iron hoop, and her skin quickly turned purple.

“Ah! Let go!”

Her expression twisted in pain.

The few people behind her rushed forward, ready to punch and kick Wang Jixuan.

But the plump woman was quite wide, and the two bunny girls were desperately trying to block them. For a moment, the gangsters couldn’t get close and could only shout:

“Let go of Sister Cauliflower!”

“Are you looking for death?!”

“Let go!”

Wang Jixuan pushed with his left hand, effortlessly moving the plump woman back.

She stumbled back three steps and crashed into her companions, causing them to tumble over.

‘So weak.’

Wang Jixuan didn’t want to linger, frowning as he watched them.

His leather jacket had two inner pockets, one containing a small silenced pistol, a magazine, and a few simple talismans he had made yesterday.

If they insisted on causing trouble, he wouldn’t mind making a few enemies with the gang.

The plump woman’s face turned red with anger as she cursed, lifting her short skirt to reveal a sturdy thigh with a small revolver strapped to it, excitedly pulling out the gun…

Wang Jixuan narrowed his eyes.

If it’s like this, then don’t blame him!

“Hey, what are you doing, Brother Cai? Why are you pulling out a gun?”

A suddenly high-pitched, delicate male voice came from the side.

Wang Jixuan glanced over.

Several male waiters holding trays were watching, with guns or submachine guns hidden beneath their trays, now aimed at the plump woman.

Behind the waiters was a middle-aged man wearing tight jeans and a sequined off-shoulder sweater, with high heels and a stubble, running toward them.

Wait, hold on.

A man?

Wang Jixuan knew before coming that the perverted area of Joy City would have things beyond his understanding, but this was too… too…

[Heart of the Dao Damage Level: Moderate.]

The plump woman, who was at the top of the “plump” scale, was being called “Brother” by someone, and her self-reference and how she referred to others seemed to express some complex orientation.

And this man rushing over seemed to be the agent he was looking for, “Goat Butt,” completely outside the normal gender framework.

A flamboyant stubbly uncle.

Wang Jixuan saw the name tag on the uncle, which read “Manager Thomas,” clearly not his real name.

The plump woman had her gun snatched away by a female companion but continued to glare at Wang Jixuan, pointing at him.

“Old Goat, don’t get involved! I’m going to kill him today!”

Thomas pulled the plump woman’s arm, speaking sweetly, “Oh, Brother Cai~ why argue with a young man who just came down? His uncle is quite a powerful person, a member of the security team on the eleventh floor.”

The plump woman’s expression changed slightly, her facial fat trembling as she tried to calm her breathing.

Wang Jixuan looked on with indifference.

Thomas continued to smile and soothe her, “Alright, don’t be angry. I’ve reserved the best private room for you, and I’ll send you three bottles of good wine tonight. It’s not easy for me to do business, so can you just be understanding?”

The plump woman huffed, cursing, “I’m doing this for you, Old Goat! How long do you think a guy like him can survive down here?”

If it weren’t for maintaining his own composure, Wang Jixuan would have wanted to retort, “At least a thousand or eighteen hundred years.”

Thomas hurriedly said, “Oh, young people just need to experience things. Brother Cai, don’t be angry. Tonight, I’ll personally drink with you a few more times. Come on, let’s go this way.”

“Kid! Don’t let me find out where you’re staying!”

The plump woman cursed fiercely, but her body was obediently pulled away by Thomas. They walked down another corridor next to the noisy dance floor and quickly disappeared.

A few gangsters glared at Wang Jixuan and hurriedly followed.

No one noticed that a breath of air shot out from Wang Jixuan’s nose, splitting into five strands that wrapped around the five gang members.

In the past seven days, he had been in seclusion, refining the remaining blood of the Blade Beast he had collected. Although the pure spiritual energy he obtained wasn’t much, his internal energy had significantly increased, and he was close to being fully charged.

Once the gangsters were far away, a bunny girl with a baby face said with a hint of age, “You have quite the temper. You need to tone it down here in the lower city. It’s not like the upper city, where being tough is enough to stand tall; you need to have background.”

“Hmm,” Wang Jixuan smiled at the heavily made-up girl, “Thanks for the reminder.”

“Why so polite? Is the Central City really that orderly and oppressive? … Oh? Is that good over there? Alright, Manager! I’ll take him over now.”

The bunny girl pressed her right ear’s earpiece and smiled gently, “This way please, big client. The manager has taken care of it.”

“The manager seems quite angry. I haven’t heard him use his real voice in a long time.”

Wang Jixuan was puzzled.

He followed the baby-faced bunny girl past the edge of the dance floor and entered the corridor where the five gangsters had just walked through.

The path twisted and turned, dim and unclear. Suddenly, he saw a section of the wall covered with warm red short velvet, with eight photos hanging on it, each illuminated by a spotlight.

The first few photos featured stunning men and women, all exceptionally good-looking.

The bunny girl noticed Wang Jixuan’s curiosity and cheerfully explained, “Our shop has been around for forty years. Every five years, we select a sales champion, and these are them.”

“Sales champion?”

“Don’t people in Central City know about these?”

The bunny girl giggled, covering her mouth, “As long as you have resources, you can exchange them for Joy Coins. With Joy Coins, you can spend here. Everything has a clear price, like spending a romantic night with them.”

Wang Jixuan looked surprised.

Spring House courtesans.

He thought the sales champion in this bar was something else… Wait a minute?

Wang Jixuan looked at the sixth photo, which showed a person in workout clothes, hard to tell if they were male or female. That was fine… but the seventh photo was actually of a robot?

It had a silver metallic body, resembling a human female but was clearly mechanical, with the name next to it reading “Military Medical Modification-11R.”

So then, what was the eighth one…

Wang Jixuan stood expressionless in front of the eighth photo, frowning, pursing his lips, and holding his breath as he looked at the large lizard being lifted by two people in the picture.

A lizard?

Not transformed?

Not a lizard spirit?

Just a plain lizard?

“What a pity,” the bunny girl said with a regretful expression, “The big shot who kept the eighth sales champion, Brother Ah San, had an accident recently, and our shop’s entertainment revenue has dropped significantly.”

Wang Jixuan: …

He felt like he heard a small part of his heart shatter.

Oh, the Infinite One!

It was hard to give a suitable comment from a cultivator’s perspective!

After turning another corner, the bunny girl raised her hand to stop Wang Jixuan, signaling him to be quiet.

Not far ahead, “Old Goat” Thomas was holding a flip-top walkie-talkie covered in rhinestones, using a high-pitched voice to imitate a woman’s tone, speaking to a male voice:

“Oh, it’s not that simple to handle. I need your permission, Ghost Brother. After all, those five are under your command… Okay, thank you for understanding. They’ve harassed my client six times now, I really can’t do anything about it. They even pulled a gun today, hmm~ scared me to death… No need, their accounts are all settled. Ghost Brother, you should come play with me more often. Business is tough for my little shop now… Let’s leave it at that for now. Ghost Brother, we’ll talk another day, muah, muah.”

Click.

Thomas closed the walkie-talkie and looked at Wang Jixuan, curling his lip.

Then he revealed his real voice, which was a rough male tone, frowning at the button on his collar’s walkie-talkie as he said:

“Damn it! Schedule a meeting with the oil refinery! There’s a pig to send over, the kind with a lot of fat! Don’t lower the price! What the hell! Is it so hard to get a big client?!”

Thomas cursed as he picked up a submachine gun from a nearby waiter’s tray and kicked open the door to the private room behind him.

Wang Jixuan caught a glimpse of the five people who had just clashed with him, now with their heads down, looking dazed, as some smoke floated in the air.

Thomas covered his mouth and nose tightly with his right hand, holding the submachine gun in his left, aiming it at the plump woman, and pulled the trigger hard.

A series of rapid gunshots were drowned out by the intense drumbeats.

A few seconds later, Thomas stepped back out, frowning at Wang Jixuan.

The bunny girl who had brought Wang Jixuan suddenly raised her hand, aiming a silver handgun at the back of his head.
