Seolhwa was deeply troubled. What did she think after seeing the illusion? The only answer she wanted to give was what she had said right after waking from it.
Did she wish to pity the Blood Demon? In the illusion, Jeok Yeonhwi had been nothing but a powerless, unlucky, pitiful, and pathetic man. The reason she wished he wasn't the Blood Demon was because she didn't want to feel even an ounce of sympathy for him.
"I'm sorry, but right now I'm just confused."
She knew he wasn't someone to pity, yet compassion arose. Even though she knew he was someone she must not pity.
"I see."
Sama Cheon nodded as if he'd expected that answer. Contrary to his words, it seemed he hadn't wanted any special answer, for he soon accepted it. Then he held out something he had been toying with toward Seolhwa.
It was a thin piece of paper, about the size of a palm. Seolhwa took it. The paper was densely covered in letters so small and dark red that they were hard to make out.
"Do you know of the Ten Thousand Flying Bird (Manbijo)?"
"I don't." "It's a spirit creature named for flying about without dying for ten thousand years. It's written in the blood of that spirit creature."
