The southern end of the Yangtze River, a deep mountain valley in Mount Huangshan. A man holding a fan made of crane feathers behind his back hummed a tune as he climbed the mountain. His steps seemed leisurely, but his Lightness Skill was so astounding that the surrounding scenery blurred and changed with each stride.
The man's steps came to a halt in one place.
"Hmm..."
He had stopped before a pit where demonic beasts used to toss the humans they killed. But the pit held no human corpses, only the bodies of demonic beasts. It was a sign that someone had killed the demonic beasts of this forest and collected the bodies.
"Hmph, hmm..."
From that spot, the man began to walk slowly. Though he walked as if on a leisurely stroll, his eyes busily scanned the surroundings. And when his steps finally stopped at a certain peak.
"Someone... has been here."
Hidden by his fan, the corners of his mouth curved into an interested smile. His slender eyes also curved like a bow, his sharp gaze sweeping over the peak where the mechanism had been dismantled. The clouds had disappeared, and in their place was a feast of rainbow-colored light.
A brilliant light flashed within his black pupils.
