“Burn it all!”
“Kill every last one!”
Flames rose from a village near the Yangtze River. The common people, startled by the sudden calamity, fled screaming, but the ones who had fallen upon the village chased them down with eyes flashing with madness and plunged blades into their backs. Screams, pleas, and the crying of children could be heard from all directions.
“Aaaargh!”
“My wife!”
Seeing the blade that had pierced his wife’s chest, a man screamed in grief and rage. He charged at the villains with all his fury, but these were opponents against whom fury alone could do nothing.
Shrrk.
His head flew off in a single stroke, and the husband’s corpse crumpled to the ground limply.
“Do the north-of-the-river bastards have no guts?”
The man who had just lopped off a head, Lee Gon, wiped the blood from his blade and let out a cackle. Around him unfolded a scene that could only be described as hell on earth. Burning houses, blood scattered in every direction, and people screaming as they fled this way and that.
Lee Gon slowly licked his lips.
‘It’s been a while.’
