In the Reincarnation Paradise, Su Xiao spent most of his time moving between the Trial Field and his personal space. He didn’t summon the mirror image of Geng Silang again; instead, he chose to practice in real combat mode to improve his fighting skills.
Although he faced death several times during this period, Su Xiao gained a lot from the experience.
In the blink of an eye, three days had passed, and Su Xiao received a notification from the Reincarnation Paradise.
"The Hunter is about to return to the real world. Please remember the rules of the Reincarnation Paradise."
"You cannot disclose anything about the Reincarnation Paradise in the real world. Violators will receive a warning, and if the warning is ignored, the Hunter will be executed."
"The Hunter cannot use abilities gained in the Reincarnation Paradise in the real world, except for personal attributes and passive skills."
"Most equipment or items obtained in the Reincarnation Paradise cannot be taken out into the real world; they are locked and will be restored upon returning to the Reincarnation Paradise."
"Teleportation starting, location: real world."
As the familiar feeling of teleportation washed over him, Su Xiao regained consciousness, lying in a cold storage unit.
The temperature inside the storage unit was very low, and it felt a bit cramped. Su Xiao's face darkened as he realized where he was. There was only one possibility.
He kicked the storage door with all his strength, and the door deformed and flew open.
With that kick, not only did the door fly open, but Su Xiao also slid out of the storage unit.
The storage unit felt like a long metal drawer.
"Clang."
The unit hit the ground with a loud crash in the silent room.
Su Xiao looked around the room, illuminated by harsh fluorescent lights. His guess was correct; this was a morgue, a place for storing corpses.
Earlier, he had been "shot," and his "body" was stored here. He entered the Reincarnation Paradise after pretending to be dead, and the Paradise had locked his life force, so he wasn't truly dead.
The loud crash from the storage unit caught the attention of others.
In the hospital's duty room, a young intern nurse jumped at the sound.
Wearing a white coat, the nurse realized the noise came from the lower morgue, but her colleague had gone out to buy a late-night snack. The hospital was eerily quiet at this hour, and she was alone; everyone else had already gone to bed, making her hesitant to go out.
"No, it can't be a ghost. Don't think like that. My teacher said there are no such things as ghosts or spirits. No, no, oh..."
The young nurse, named Yi Ruo, had been interning for two months.
"Bang."
Another loud noise came from the morgue, causing Yi Ruo to scream. The hot water cup she was holding slipped from her hands and shattered on the floor.
That loud noise was Su Xiao breaking open the morgue door.
He walked down the narrow corridor, with various departments labeled on either side. The sharp smell of disinfectant confirmed to Su Xiao that he was in a hospital, specifically one in his city.
Su Xiao had been here once before, so he had some memory of this small hospital.
He wasn’t in a hurry to leave; he had to find the knife that had been passed down in his family.
He could lose anything, but that knife was non-negotiable.
Su Xiao searched for hospital staff, but he had no leads on the knife.
Soon, he arrived at the door of a duty room. The light was on, and a beautiful young nurse was staring blankly at him.
Su Xiao pushed the door open and stepped inside. Before he could say anything, the nurse sitting in the chair suddenly rolled her eyes back and fainted, collapsing to the floor.
Confused, Su Xiao approached the fallen nurse and pinched her pressure point.
The nurse slowly regained consciousness, but when she saw Su Xiao, fear filled her eyes, and she instinctively wanted to scream.
Su Xiao quickly covered her mouth and nose.
"Don't make a sound, or I'll kill you."
Having just left a dangerous world, Su Xiao radiated a strong killing intent.
The nurse nodded quickly, tears welling in her eyes as she looked at him, appearing utterly pitiful.
"Who brought me here?"
Su Xiao guessed from the nurse's reaction that she might have seen him before, which explained her current fear.
"Oh, oh..."
The nurse pointed at Su Xiao's hand, indicating she still couldn't speak. Su Xiao released his grip.
"Ha, ha..." She took a few heavy breaths.
"You... you’re not dead? Your death has nothing to do with me, so don’t come after me. I... I haven’t even dated yet. I haven’t done anything wrong, oh..." The nurse's voice trembled, and tears filled her eyes.
Su Xiao continued to look coldly at her.
"Answer my question."
Su Xiao's icy voice made the nurse shudder.
"I don’t know exactly who it was, but there are records."
After searching the hospital for information, Su Xiao got a general idea and stood up to leave.
East City Garden, a not-so-high-end but well-known neighborhood, was where Su Xiao was born in this second-tier city, so he knew its location well.
He hailed a taxi on the dark street, heading straight for East City Garden.
Ten minutes later, he arrived at East City Garden.
He wouldn’t enter through the main gate; he was currently an illegal resident and likely had a murder charge hanging over him.
With Su Xiao's stealth skills, he easily infiltrated East City Garden within half an hour. The group of thugs from East City had brought him to the morgue, and after a brief investigation, he learned where those thugs were located.
In a residential building, on the third floor, in a bedroom, the sound of even breathing could be heard. Su Xiao's expression darkened as he looked at the yellow-haired thug sleeping soundly on the bed; his knife wasn’t here.
Su Xiao was starting to lose patience. The longer he waited, the slimmer his chances of finding the knife became. So, he quietly approached the sleeping thug.
As he got closer, he suddenly sprang into action, using his left arm to choke the thug and forming a Brazilian jiu-jitsu guillotine with his right hand.
This move was extremely brutal; it would completely cut off blood supply to the brain. With enough strength, it would take only two to three seconds to knock someone out and less than ten seconds to kill them.
The thug didn’t even have a chance to shout as his body went limp.
Su Xiao carried the thug and retraced his steps back out of East City Garden. In the dead of night, entering and leaving was a breeze for him.
In a dark alley, the thug gradually regained consciousness.
"If you don’t want to die, answer my questions honestly."
"Who are you? I’m..."
Before the thug could finish his sentence, Su Xiao punched him in the chest.
The thug groaned in pain, collapsing to the ground.
"Where's my knife?"
The thug looked at Su Xiao in confusion, pain etched on his face. Su Xiao's punch felt like being hit by a train.
"What knife? Who are you?"
"Su Xiao."
Su Xiao stood in the dark alley, openly stating his real name.
At this point, there was no need to hide. He was sure he would become a wanted criminal by tomorrow.
"It’s you! Your knife has already been sent abroad for auction."
The thug spoke calmly, showing no signs of panic.
"You're lying."
Su Xiao grabbed the thug's fingers, and with a series of cracking sounds, the alley echoed with screams like that of a slaughtered pig.
"This time it’s five fingers; next time it’ll be your neck. After you die, I’ll find someone else. This isn’t something only you know; death means losing everything."
The thug's face twisted in agony, his eyes seeming to burn with rage.
"That knife was taken by our boss; it has nothing to do with me."
"Very well, take me to your boss."
