The maid Ding Ding hesitated for a moment, feeling unsure. After all, they had just met and exchanged only a couple of sentences. How could she just move into someone else's home?
Seeing her hesitation, Chen Shi smiled and asked, "Do I look like a bad person, Ding Ding?"
Ding Ding shook her head, "No, you don't."
Chen Shi continued, "Since I don't look like a bad person, what are you afraid of? I'm well-respected in the village, known for being a good person. Ding Ding, my dog can cook, and it's quite good at it. Tonight, it will prepare a few dishes."
Ding Ding widened her eyes in surprise and looked at Heiguo, stammering, "It can cook?"
"Chopping, cooking, frying, you name it, it's good at all of them," Chen Shi said. "If you stay at my place, you'll see for yourself. Or would you rather stay here alone tonight?"
Ding Ding glanced at the coffin in the manor, clutching her blue-green pipa bag tighter, feeling a bit scared.
Chen Shi started walking out, turning back to smile at her, "Let's go! We can visit Lady Hua Li in a few days."
Ding Ding gritted her teeth and quickly followed him.
The two of them, along with the dog, headed out of the mountain. As they walked, Ding Ding quietly asked, "Does your Heiguo really know how to cook?"
