Why was a mere house guest of the Underworld Information Clan asking me about the identity of Hyun-won’s killer? He didn’t seem to suspect me. The way he kept stressing the poison made it obvious he was trying to pin it on the Poisonous Rakshasa.
Whatever scheme lay behind it, I had no intention of playing along so easily. Fortunately, even without considering Hu Il-hyeong, it was hard to see the Poisonous Rakshasa as Hyun-won’s murderer. There was a far more plausible culprit.
“Could it be that the stranger who killed the black market merchant that Daoist Hyun-won was chasing used the poison on him?”
If he had stolen the Tang Clan’s inner energy-scattering poison from the black market merchant, it stood to reason that he used it to block Hyun-won’s inner energy and kill him. It was a logical deduction, but Inspector Baek narrowed his eyes as if he found it displeasing. The disappointment on his face made my heart turn cold.
Was he really after the Poisonous Rakshasa?
“Is that how you see it?”
“……Isn’t that the case?”
“Do you know who the stranger is?”
“I’m not certain, but from the circumstances, I believe it was the master of the Dragon Sky Escort Agency.”
