For now Adam could only set the matter of the Dragon-Slaying Organization aside. Neither his strength nor his influence was enough to support him in making contact with an organization that vast. Whatever came of it, though, the Dragon-Slaying Organization's existence could hardly be a bad thing. Even if they truly meant to wipe out every last member of dragonkind in the plane, it would make no difference to Adam — he might even throw a little fuel on the fire. The more chaotic this plane grew, after all, the better for him.
On the eighth day of travel, Adam saw the ocean through the clouds.
Kanbi spoke up. "Sir, we're nearly there. I hear the ice field is a huge island joined to the continent — once you see the ocean, the ice field isn't far."
These past days had been an absolutely miserable experience for Kanbi. He had never imagined Adam would grab hold of him and fly above the cloud layer the entire way. He had even gone over in his head everything he had seen and heard when he traveled abroad with the old clan head, all ready to show off in front of the lord, and he had been hoping they might run into some clueless magical beast so he could demonstrate his abilities along the way.
Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined a dragonet could fly this fast. The vast air currents split by their passage had punched through the energy shell around his body more times than he could count. Now he felt stiff from head to toe — perhaps he had already turned into an ice sprite and simply hadn't noticed.
