The Makalu Mountains were vast. Okov held only the highest peak among them, the place closest to the sky, capped in ice and snow the year round and the coldest of all.
The lower slopes were something else entirely: bursting with life, thick with forests and lakes, and home to every kind of wondrous creature.
Lina's tribe was there too.
Once the master-servant contract was signed, Lina obeyed Adam absolutely. By questioning her he learned that she belonged to the forest elves, and that the tribe she was born into was a small branch of that race with a population of only a thousand-odd. Its strongest was her father, the clan head. Lina did not know his energy rank, only that before Okov the clan head had not the slightest ability to resist.
