Adam had something of a headache. It wasn't as though he had ordered the monster to wipe out the Magefoe apprentices in this city, but the merit points had ended up in his hands all the same, and he wasn't quite sure how to explain to them why he was reaping where he hadn't sown.
But right now, mutated monster or not, the devil absolutely could not withstand a composite magic the four of them built together.
Adam's computing power was on a nonhuman level. He didn't know exactly what magic the four were constructing, but he had already roughly calculated the nodes where the four elements twisted together. He rubbed his fingers together, and four thin bolts of lightning lightly struck those elemental nodes, setting the previously steady elemental fluctuations rippling.
Seizing the moment, he descended in front of the four, extended a finger, and pressed it against the void; his mana output made the already-condensed elements detonate on the spot. The shockwave landed precisely and entirely on the monster, without harming a single hair of the four apprentices. Then the electric net reappeared, wrapping the monster up with perfect accuracy.
"It's you? You've been peeking from the sidelines all this time, and now you want to jump in and snatch the merit?" The four had no idea who Adam was, but their merit bracelets had long since shown them Adam's position. They had taken him for an apprentice who knew the rules and was only here for the show; they hadn't expected him to stick his foot in at the critical moment.
"Be careful. The way he just broke our magic was formidable."
