Adam did not sit around waiting for Monte Carlo's apprentices to show up. When it came down to it, he did not care about the exchange delegation at all. Headmaster Victor had told him ten years ago to look for a chance to make a move, but whether he actually lifted a hand was still Adam's own choice.
Adam patted Elliot on the shoulder. "I'm going back to the lab. You?"
Elliot shrank back a little and said, "I want to see just who's coming..."
Adam paid him no further attention and turned and left.
Moldo Academy took in new students once every ten years. Thanks to several of Adam's achievements, the academy now had several times the people it had ten years ago, nothing like the sparse handful it used to be. Everywhere Adam walked, the apprentices made way for him of their own accord, and people kept stepping out of the crowd to fall in behind him. These were the assistants from his laboratory.
