Divine Tortoise Year Five (321), Twelfth Lunar Month, Day 27, Clear.
After completing the grand kneeling ceremony, Liang Fen slowly rose and welcomed his daughter into the home.
Liang Lanbi looked around the new residence with a faint trace of disappointment.
The so-called new house was not really new—it had stood for several years already.
It was the old Liang’s place to till the fields after he returned from Nanyang.
Liang Lanbi found nothing familiar in this house.
She had been in the palace for many years; her mother had passed away last year, and her two elder brothers had also died one after another, leaving only a small nephew who shyly greeted her.
This home was empty and desolate, lacking any warmth or life.
Thankfully, Uncle Liang Zong had come all the way from Pingyang to accompany her father for the New Year, making the house less lonely.
After the greetings were finished, Liang Fen invited Liang Lanbi to take the seat of honor.
But Liang Lanbi refused, saying, “Today I am only the daughter, not the Empress.”
Liang Fen sighed and didn’t insist, sitting down at the seat of honor himself.
Liang Lanbi happily sat beside her father and looked across at Liang Zong.
She asked, “I heard Uncle has been granted an official position?”
