Eros and Psyche's Story - (4)
As if entranced, Psyche stepped into the palace and looked around, where soft music floated through the air.
The beautiful sound of the lyre gently caressed her ears, easing her tension.
Inside, there were many dishes laid out, including an array of fruits.
The food was on par with what the princess of the kingdom, Psyche, was used to.
Feeling a bit hungry, she slowly picked a grape and brought it to her mouth.
Pop— the fruit burst in her mouth, filling her with the sensation of Demeter's blessings.
How could such fruits and dishes be made? Perhaps her husband truly was a monster, as the oracle had said.
Yet, it was also said that if she spent a hundred days without seeing her husband's face, she could escape her fate of marrying a monster...
As time passed and darkness settled over the land, fatigue washed over her, and she lay down on the bed.
'Will my husband appear today? Since he hasn’t shown up by dinner, maybe tomorrow...'
Lost in thought, Psyche found it hard to sleep.
Wrapped in her blanket, she heard a strange sound in her ear.
Clunk.
Clunk.
Whoosh—
"Ah...!"
Turning her head to see if the wind was blowing in through the open window, she noticed a dark figure that had not been there moments before.
