“Igor.”
After drinking with Putin, I quietly called out to Igor on the way back to the estate.
“Yes, Boss.”
“You can eliminate Ivanov, right?”
Igor, in the passenger seat, whipped his head around in surprise.
“What do you mean by that?”
“I’m asking if you can break through Ivanov’s security team and kill or capture him. Can you do it?”
Amused by the usually unflappable Igor’s shock, a faint smile tugged at the corner of my lips.
“Boss, eliminating Ivanov is dangerous.”
“Is it that getting through his security team is difficult, or is there another reason?”
“The security team isn’t the issue. This is Russia. The moment you attack a former KGB man like Ivanov, getting out of Russia alive becomes difficult.”
If Putin were to break his promise and not stop the siloviki, then Igor’s words would certainly come true.
“What about combat strength? Between Ivanov’s security team and ours?”
“Our strength is superior. The first thing I did after returning to Russia was gather my old comrades.”
Igor cut me off, as if that part wasn’t worth worrying about.
“I’m confident that no team in Russia can beat our unit’s veterans.”
His confident words made Igor seem even more trustworthy.
“Then get ready and take care of Ivanov tomorrow after dark.”
“…Boss.”
“I’ve already finished talking with Putin, so there won’t be any outside interference.”
