Lu Jian ran through the night to the Nine-Bend Garden, seeking an audience with the Son of Heaven.
At that moment, Yin Yuan was in the Tiger Garden, wrestling with a white-foreheaded tiger with glaring eyes.
The general process was this: a group of expert Yulin Guards harshly beat the fierce tiger until it fled in panic.
Yin Yuan, brave beyond measure, grabbed the tiger’s tail and dragged it backward, measuring their strength against each other!
When Lu Jian arrived, Yin Yuan had already won nine bouts in a row and was in high spirits.
So as soon as Lu Jian spoke, Yin Yuan promptly wrote out a “Court Document of Favorable Treatment for Vassal Heirs,” using his private seal—the “Treasure of the Son of Heaven’s Imperial Collection.” He also had Yu Changle use the official big seal of the Shougong Bureau, then handed this to Lu Jian.
Casually, he asked Lu Jian what he planned to do with this letter.
Lu Jian answered honestly, explaining that the vassal heirs of the Four Corners District had come to the Honglu Temple to settle debts, and he directly said that his family wanted to build a family shrine in the White Horse District to honor their ancestral tablets.
But good locations were hard to find, so he partnered up to try to buy a mansion south of the Jingang Creek from a wealthy merchant in the White Horse District.
