The sun in the sky had already begun to set toward the west.
The time was roughly around Shen hour, between three and five in the afternoon.
Lu Xian stood at the entrance of the Zhao Yao residence, whose gate had been smashed to pieces.
He narrowed his eyes, watching the procession approaching from afar.
The official residences of the Ministry of Public Security were in a prime location.
The Imperial Academy lay just to the east of this cluster of government housing.
From Cuiwei Peak to here was less than ten li (about five kilometers).
From a distance, Lu Xian could see a four-wheeled carriage adorned with red silk and silk flowers leading the way.
According to the information brought by the little eunuch scouts, the lucky one chosen by Bai Lu and the Bai family, Li Erya, sat beaming with joy in the coachman’s seat, driving forward.
Bai Changkong and a group of great sages rode leisurely on horseback behind the carriage, chatting animatedly, their faces flushed with enthusiasm.
Following them was a long line stretching for several li, filled with students from the Taixue and the Imperial Academy.
Each held a plum blossom branch, walking along while chanting beautiful poems and songs praising the purity and beauty of male-female love.
