In an even, gray-white background that seemed to fill the entire world—the “Passage”—a huge sail exploration ship was silently cutting through, moving rapidly.
It was a phantom ghost with an unreal feeling—the image of the Lost Home overlaid atop the Splendid Stars.
Eerie green flames licked along the vast hull, and by using this kind of mapped relation, the Lost Home’s helmsman, Anomaly 077, was guiding the ship toward the Boundless Sea.
This felt like an especially long journey home.
The monotonous, uniform gray-white corridor seemed endless; there wasn’t even a whisper of wind outside the rail.
No matter how long they had been traversing that Passage, you couldn’t see the ship move at all.
Even after more than one such “voyage,” everyone found the monotony unbearable.
As a professional Border exploration ship and a sea-witch’s mobile fortress, the Splendid Stars held countless dangerous laboratories and workshops within.
It was obviously no place for fooling around.
Sherry, bored out of her skull, draped herself over the rail and stared into the gray beyond.
