Although, in theory, Abnormal 077 wasn’t a proper “dead” person, everyone felt it was worth a try — at least it should be tried.
So, a dozen minutes later, a sailor who had been slacking in a corner of the lower deck was jolted awake by a stampede of hurried, chaotic footsteps.
He blinked and saw the captain leading everyone on the ship rushing over at full speed.
Before he could react, Vanna leapt forward like an arrow, grabbed the collar of that dried corpse and hauled him up.
The sailor had never seen anything like this.
When Vanna yanked him up and he felt the concentrated, murderous — actually expectant — gazes gathering around him, the corpse’s molars started chattering.
He hunched his neck and tried to shrink back: “I… I just wanted to nap for a bit, that’s not against the crew rules, is it? Even if it is, you’re not all going to gang up and beat me, are you?”
“Don’t nap. You won’t be able to sleep anyway,” Duncan said, stepping forward from behind the others and appraising Abnormal 077. “We’re here for business.”
“Business?” The sailor blinked, then noticed the stares weren’t actually murderous.
