Creating Heavenly Laws

Chapter 7 Descending the Mountain, Entering the World

Lin Yuan gazed at the Long-browed Old Monk standing beside him.

The Long-browed Old Monk had instructed and guided Lin Yuan for a mere two months but had been a significant influence.

Thanks to the monk's nod, Lin Yuan could reside in the Scripture Pavilion.

"The realm of the Supreme Grandmaster focuses on the spirit; external forces have little effect."

"A few years ago, I examined the martial arts within the Scripture Pavilion, the 'Muscle-Tendon Scripture,' and realized another form of martial art that may aid in reaching the Supreme Grandmaster level."

The martial art Lin Yuan referred to was naturally the 'Muscle-Tendon Cleansing Refinement and Soul Tempering Technique.' This technique not only nurtures the physical body but also refines the spirit.

The breakthrough from a Grandmaster to a Supreme Grandmaster essentially involves developing spiritual power.

The more pure the spiritual power, the easier it is to perceive and condense into spiritual force.

Mastering this martial art to the perfection stage could give a Grandmaster a twenty to thirty percent chance of breaking through to the Supreme Grandmaster realm.

"Bodhisattva, you need not spend energy on me; the path of the Supreme Grandmaster requires enlightenment and opportunity," the Long-browed Old Monk said immediately.

Before Lin Yuan, the prevailing wisdom among martial arts experts was that becoming a Supreme Grandmaster was not something that could be forced, even for a Supreme Grandmaster themselves.

A thousand years ago, the founder of the Great Zen Temple, Patriarch Bodhidharma, was a Supreme Grandmaster.

He accepted one hundred and eight Buddhist high monks as disciples to establish the Great Zen Temple.

Yet none of those high monks managed to enter the realm of the Supreme Grandmaster.

"No worries, just listen," Lin Yuan said, proceeding to explain the 'Muscle-Tendon Cleansing Refinement and Soul Tempering Technique.' Seeing this, the Long-browed Old Monk patiently listened.

Initially, he thought Lin Yuan's words would be similar to the insights left by Patriarch Bodhidharma.

Yet, a fifth of the way in, his brows knitted tightly, thoughts churning.

"This..."

The Long-browed Old Monk's heart raced.

As a Grandmaster, he possessed basic discernment, and by halfway through, he realized the extraordinary value of Lin Yuan's martial art.

It was a technique for refining the spirit.

While spiritual martial arts aren't unheard of, several spiritual techniques left by Patriarch Bodhidharma reside on the third floor of the Scripture Pavilion.

However, all spiritual martial arts require a Supreme Grandmaster's spiritual force to train.

Lin Yuan's insight into the 'Muscle-Tendon Cleansing Refinement and Soul Tempering Technique,' however, could be cultivated even by those in the Innate Realm.

This was truly astonishing, leaving the Long-browed Old Monk speechless.

He was acutely aware of the value of such a martial art.

If this were to be disclosed, the Great Zen Temple would become the focus of the world.

Several major martial sects, even the Great Li Dynasty, would no doubt attempt to seize this martial art.

After a moment, Lin Yuan finished speaking, observing the Long-browed Old Monk, who was left dumbfounded.

Other leaders present had also listened but did not immediately realize the martial art's worth, thinking it obscure and needing gradual contemplation.

"Alright," Lin Yuan said, lowering his gaze and dismissing them with a wave.

"You all should return now."

"Yes," the Long-browed Old Monk replied, awakening as if from a dream, suppressing his excitement and respectfully departing.

Once the Long-browed Old Monk and others left, the Pavilion grew quiet once more.

Lin Yuan ascended to the third floor, picking up an ancient tome.

Its cover displayed the words 'Demon Vanquishing Intellect Scripture.' This scripture related to the spirit, was yet another spiritual martial art left by Patriarch Bodhidharma a thousand years ago.

Before breaking through to the Supreme Grandmaster realm, Lin Yuan did not possess spiritual force.

Despite his heaven-defying comprehension, he hadn't delved deeply into spiritual martial arts.

Now, as a Supreme Grandmaster, he began to study this aspect earnestly.

Half a month quickly passed.

For those ten days, Lin Yuan was immersed in the 'Demon Vanquishing Intellect Scripture.' His extraordinary understanding enabled him to comprehend a miracle-working spiritual art, the 'Heaven-Transforming Earth-Smashing Grand Technique.' A flood of spiritual forces intertwined, forming an enigmatic pattern within the space above his brow, imprinted deep within.

"With this spiritual art," Lin Yuan felt confident he could claim unrivaled supremacy within the Supreme Grandmaster realm.

Time flowed on, and five years elapsed in the blink of an eye.

Within the quiet Pavilion, peculiar auras wafted, stalling at the threshold.

Lin Yuan opened his eyes, witnessing a strip of white lightning cross the void.

Lightning in the void—a manifestation of immense spiritual power.

While a Supreme Grandmaster's spiritual might could kill, it didn't alter physical laws, such as lifting a stone with spiritual force alone.

Traditionally, no Supreme Grandmaster had achieved this.

Yet, now this iron law was shattered by Lin Yuan.

He had surpassed the Supreme Grandmaster, achieving a level unheard of in this realm.

With his exceptional comprehension, Lin Yuan took just five years to leap from Postnatal, Innate, and Grandmaster stages to become a Supreme Grandmaster.

Another five years saw Lin Yuan breach the confines of the Supreme Grandmaster realm, an unparalleled achievement in this world.

"Let it be called the Mythical Realm," Lin Yuan mused privately.

The level above the Supreme Grandmaster realm was the stuff of legend, of myth, and the name seemed fitting.

"Ten more years left to stay here. Time to venture outside."

Lin Yuan steadied his aura, intending to explore beyond the Great Zen Temple.

Having reached the Mythical Realm, Lin Yuan had absorbed most of the temple's accumulated knowledge over the millennium.

Maintaining his current momentum necessitated venturing the world, discovering other martial arts secrets beyond the temple.

Different from the Great Zen Temple, other few major martial sects and even contend the Great Li Dynasty proffered unique martial techniques.

His unparalleled understanding allowed him to distill and transcend these, aiding his future breakthroughs.

Outside the Bodhi Court, the Great Zen Temple's Abbot Hui Yuan and several leaders gathered once more.

"I can feel the bottleneck of the Grandmaster realm," Abbot Hui Yuan excitedly announced.

"Within ten to twenty years, I may breach into the Grandmaster realm."

Under normal circumstances, his prospects of becoming a Grandmaster were slim.

Yet, under Lin Yuan's guidance years ago, hope glimmered.

The other leaders shared the excitement, benefiting enormously from Lin Yuan's insights.

While their prospects of reaching the Grandmaster realm within two decades weren't as assured as the Abbot's, thirty to forty years seemed possible.

For innate martial experts at their peak, living beyond a century wasn't impossible.

Thus, these senior leaders in their sixties or seventies had one last chance.

Just then, a monk hurriedly entered.

"Abbot, leaders, there's trouble," he stammered, clearly anxious.

"Calm down and speak slowly," Abbot Hui Yuan encouraged gently.

"The Bodhisattva... the Bodhisattva..."

The monk took a deep breath, preparing to speak.

"What about the Bodhisattva?" Abbot Hui Yuan immediately stood up, eyeing the monk intently.

The leaders displayed similar seriousness; the Bodhisattva embodied the temple's future hope for five centuries.

His affairs were matters of utmost importance.

"The Bodhisattva," the monk hastily informed, "has descended the mountain."

"What?" Abbot Hui Yuan blinked. “The Bodhisattva has descended the mountain?” he inquired promptly.

"Did he say why?"

"Yes, what did the Bodhisattva say?" Leader Hui Wen pressed eagerly.

"He said... to go down the mountain and..."

The monk steadied himself, mimicking Lin Yuan’s tone.

"To take a look at this world."
