Seeing Li Zhuiyuan and Runsheng deep in conversation, Uncle Xue stood up and said, “Little Yuan, Runsheng, you two keep chatting.”
“Uncle Xue, sorry, I have something to attend to.”
“Oh, it's nothing. I have things to do too.”
With a warm smile, Uncle Xue picked up his tools and began tidying up the pots in the courtyard.
Yesterday, Li Zhuiyuan had noticed that the family had quite a few potted plants, as well as several small stone tables arranged for aesthetics.
Uncle Xue’s farmland had long been rented out by Brother Liangliang, allowing the elderly couple to step away from traditional rural labor and start enjoying their retirement life early.
During the day, Uncle Xue’s hobby was to care for these potted plants and spend leisurely time in the long corridor, drinking tea and listening to storytelling.
Aunt Xue would go out to play cards with some elderly ladies in the afternoons, where she was considered quite young among them.
“Runsheng, let’s head upstairs,” Li Zhuiyuan suggested.
“Okay.”
Once upstairs, Li Zhuiyuan sat at the study desk that Brother Liangliang used to occupy.
He took out a notebook and pen from his backpack and drew three circles on a blank page.
Three groups of people had arrived in Min'an Town, but they were in three different versions of Min'an Town.
