Chronicles of Heaven

Chapter 5 That Kneel

9 min read

Wu Zhan turned around, watching helplessly as the great axe swept across the backs of his three sons.

A large spray of blood splattered, and Wu Zhan widened his eyes, letting out a loud roar. His longsword at his waist vibrated and transformed into a two-meter-long black light, thrusting forward.

The black light grazed Wu Jin's cheek as it flew past. Just as the great axe was about to strike again, the black light collided with it, resulting in a resounding explosion as the axe head shattered. The burly man who held the axe watched as the black light struck him head-on, only able to let out a desperate scream.

Wu Jin's invincible longsword effortlessly tore through the heavy armor, as if it were mere paper, splitting the man's body into two pieces.

Wu Jin and Wu Yin had just breathed a sigh of relief when several arrows with thin black smoke trailing behind them arrived from behind, piercing their shoulders and backs.

The arrowheads were laced with a foreign substance, causing a terrible pain that made their muscles uncontrollably convulse.

The wound on their backs from the great axe split to the bone, causing their muscles to spasm even more violently. The brothers screamed in pain, and Wu Jin subconsciously loosened his grip on Wu Tong's shoulder.

Wu Tong was seriously injured and had been relying on his two older brothers to escape.

As Wu Jin and Wu Yin let go, their bodies shot forward several meters. Wu Tong, on the other hand, fell to the ground suddenly.

Wu Jin and Wu Yin turned back in alarm.

Wu Zhan anxiously shouted, charging forward towards the fallen Wu Tong with his imposing figure, creating a gust of wind.

Wu Jin and Wu Yin stopped in their tracks and turned around, intending to lift Wu Tong up.

Dozens of figures clad in armor rushed out from behind them.

Seven or eight swords and blades swung down fiercely. The bald scar-faced woman, her eyes bloodshot, held twin snake-tooth daggers in her hands as she screeched towards Wu Jin and Wu Yin, "You killed our leader... you bastards!"

Wu Jin swung his longsword, transforming it into a black blade of light, narrowly avoiding the woman's body, and intercepted the group of enemies holding weapons.

The woman reached Wu Jin and Wu Yin, and the black blade of light nearly grazed her chest. Her face contorted in a strange, almost insane, smile as she stabbed her twin daggers into the chests of Wu Jin and Wu Yin.

Wu Jin mustered all his strength to unleash a strike, trying to block the swords and blades heading towards Wu Tong. But with spasms wracking his body, he was already too late to dodge the intensive pain in his chest.

Wu Yin let out a strange cry, and he opened his arms, taking a step forward and standing in front of Wu Jin.

The two daggers simultaneously pierced into Wu Yin's chest. The woman forcefully stabbed forward, tearing open Wu Yin's chest and breaking his ribs, with half of the blade protruding brutally out of his back.

Blood gushed from Wu Jin's eyes, and two streams of blood splattered out. He screamed hoarsely, "Brother..."

Wu Yin spewed blood from his mouth, opening his arms to tightly embrace the woman. He opened his mouth wide, applying too much force and tearing the muscles at the corners of his mouth. He resembled a crazed snake, his mouth wide open.

His sharp, white teeth viciously bit into the delicate neck of the woman.

With a "crack," just like when he usually gnawed on large beast bones at home, Wu Yin, with his excellent dental health, could easily shatter the thickest bones. But the woman's neck was not as sturdy as those bones.

With another "crack," the woman's head tilted to one side abruptly, and large patches of red blood mixed with Wu Yin's pale blue blood flowed all over them.

Wu Yin's eyes lost their shine, and he tightly embraced the woman as they fell to the ground.

With life extinguished, Wu Yin's body still exerted force instinctively...force...force...

The woman's body emitted the sound of bones breaking, crushed and shattered by Wu Yin, with fragments of bones piercing through her flesh, causing hideous protrusions on her skin.

"Brother..." Wu Jin sprayed out another mouthful of blood.

"Brother!" Wu Zhan turned back quickly, and Wu Tie had just heard the commotion and turned around.

When he turned back, he saw Wu Yin and the woman dying together!

When he turned back, he saw Wu Jin spewing blood!

When he turned back, he saw Wu Tong lying on the ground!

Wu Jin's blade of light smashed into the chest of a heavily armored burly man. The man grunted and was knocked back two steps, blood spurting from his chest.

The blade of light unleashed by Wu Zhan spun and swept across several bodies of the men.

The blade was fierce, cutting the five or six men in half at the waist!

A bald, burly man's upper body flew high into the air. His widened eyes stared at Wu Zhan charging towards him and muttered, "Feeling Profound?

No...

Half-Step Heavy Building..."

The bald man's body fell heavily to the ground. He dropped the weapon in his hand and began to crawl and claw at the ground, muttering under his breath, teeth grinding, "This damn impoverished place... Half-Step Heavy Building...

How did I end up dying here?"

The blade of light unleashed by Wu Zhan slew five or six men, and a slender, elderly man, who was hiding behind a burly man and was almost the same height as a grey dwarf, suddenly darted out. A cold light emanated from the sword in his hand as it deeply pierced Wu Tong's heart.

The slender old man lifted his head and roared angrily at Wu Zhan, "You killed our leader...you killed our eldest sister...you killed so many of our brethren!"

"You!" Wu Jin forcefully pulled out the two arrows lodged in his body and threw them heavily on the ground.

He retrieved his flying blade, clenched it in his hands, and looked at Wu Tong's motionless body, screaming in anguish.

Wu Tong, wounded all over, had been carried by his two older brothers to escape.

Wu Jin and Wu Yin loosened their grips, and their bodies propelled forward several meters. Wu Tong, on the other hand, fell abruptly to the ground.

Wu Jin and Wu Yin turned around in shock.

Wu Zhan urgently yelled, charging forward towards the fallen Wu Tong. His sturdy body created a strong gust of wind.

Wu Jin and Wu Yin stopped in their tracks, intending to lift Wu Tong up.

A dozen figures clad in armor rushed out from behind them.

Seven or eight blades swung down fiercely. The scar-faced woman, with her bald head and bloodshot eyes, held a pair of snake-tooth daggers, screeching towards Wu Jin and Wu Yin, "You killed our leader...you bastards!"

Wu Jin swung his longsword, transforming it into a black blade of light, narrowly avoiding the woman's body, and intercepted the group of enemies wielding weapons.

The woman reached Wu Jin and Wu Yin, and the black blade of light nearly grazed her chest. Her face twisted into a grotesque smile, and she stabbed her twin daggers into Wu Jin and Wu Yin's chests.

Wu Jin exerted all his strength to send out a strike, wanting to block the blades and swords that were headed towards Wu Tong. But with his body spasming, he was already too slow to dodge the sharp pain in his chest.

Wu Yin let out a strange cry. He opened his arms and took a step forward, standing in front of Wu Jin.

The two daggers simultaneously pierced into Wu Yin's chest. The woman forcefully thrust forward, tearing open Wu Yin's chest, shattering his ribs, and revealing half of the blade cruelly jutting out from the back.

Blood burst from Wu Jin's eyes, spattering into two streams. He hoarsely screamed, "Brother..."

Wu Yin sprayed blood from his mouth, his wide-open arms embracing the woman. He opened his mouth, exerting too much force, tearing the muscles at the corners of his mouth. He resembled a wild snake, his mouth wide open.

His mouthful of sharp, white teeth ruthlessly bit into the delicate neck of the woman.

A "crack" sounded, just as when he usually gnawed on thick beast bones, Wu Yin, with excellent dental health, could easily shatter the thickest bones. But the woman's neck was not as resilient as those bones.

Another "crack" resounded as the woman's head tilted abruptly to one side, and large patches of red blood mixed with Wu Yin's pale blue blood spilled all over their bodies.

The light in Wu Yin's eyes faded, and he tightly embraced the woman as they fell to the ground.

Life had been extinguished, but Wu Yin's body still instinctively exerted force...force...force...

The sound of bones breaking came from the woman's body as Wu Yin strangled and shattered her bones, piercing through her flesh, and causing gruesome protrusions on her armor.

"Brother..." Wu Jin sprayed out another mouthful of blood.

"Brother!" Wu Zhan quickly turned around, and Wu Tie had just heard the disturbance and turned back himself.

When he turned back, he saw Wu Yin and the woman die together!

When he turned back, he saw Wu Jin spewing blood!

When he turned back, he saw Wu Tong lying on the ground!

Wu Jin's blade of light struck the chest of a heavily armored burly man, causing him to grunt and stagger back two steps, blood spurting from his chest.

The blade of light unleashed by Wu Zhan spun and swept across several bodies of the men.

The blade was icy and sharp, cutting five or six men in half at the waist!

A bald, burly man's upper body flew high into the air. His widened eyes stared at Wu Zhan charging towards him, muttering, "Feeling Profound?

No...

Half-Step Heavy Building..."

The bald man's body fell heavily to the ground. He dropped the weapon in his hand and began to claw at the ground, muttering under his breath, grinding his teeth, "This damn impoverished place... Half-Step Heavy Building...

How did I end up dying here?"

Wu Zhan's blade of light slaughtered five or six men, and a slender, elderly man, hiding behind a burly man and almost the same height as a grey dwarf, suddenly darted out. With a swift sword strike, the cold light emanating from his sword deeply pierced Wu Tong's chest.

The slender old man lifted his head, roaring angrily at Wu Zhan, "You killed our leader...you killed our eldest sister...you killed so many of our comrades!"

"Brother!" Wu Jin yanked out the two arrows lodged in his body and tossed them heavily onto the ground.

He retrieved his flying blade, clutching it tightly in his hands as he gazed at Wu Tong, who remained motionless, hoarsely wailing.

"Oh, brother!" Wu Tie cried out loudly. Wu Jin trembled all over, stepping in front of Wu Tie.

Over twenty men and women, covered in wounds, gasped for breath as they approached step by step, brandishing their weapons.

As for the bull tribe warriors and the green wolf warriors...

They had long been obliterated in the chaos of battle.

A figure emerged in a haze of mist.

With a white beard and appearing to be around forty to fifty years old, the man wore black leather armor with a gray cloak draped over it.

What caught one's attention was the enormous emblem on the man's chest, several times larger than the badge worn by his subordinates.

Black mist churned, and a white bone hand emerged from the black mist. In the palm of the bone hand lay several bloodied coins.

Grotesque and hideous symbols adorned the emblem, symbolizing the profession of the middle-aged man and the people behind him.

"This time, it's a loss." The middle-aged man held a black snake-headed wooden staff in his left hand, slowly advancing step by step towards Wu Jin and Wu Tie.

He shook his head incessantly, saying with a mild tone, "A loss, and who knows how long it will take to make it up!"

"I'm extremely temperamental… I'd like to hear from you, two little ones, how can I soothe this anger?"

The middle-aged man laughed, his voice warm, but his gaze extremely fierce.

Wu Tie, dazed and bewildered, had no response.

Wu Zhan and his subordinates were also frozen in place.

"You're kneeling?" The middle-aged man burst into piercing laughter, "You actually...kneeling!"

"W-why...?" Wu Tie trembled, staring in horror at Wu Jin kneeling before him.

The middle-aged man and his followers were left dumbfounded.

"K-ke...brother!" Wu Tie cried out in a hoarse voice.
