Chapter 23 Brothers and Betrayal

The instinctual warning sent shivers down Wu Tietou's spine.

This was an innate instinct that had evolved over countless years, allowing creatures to sense the presence of an unbeatable apex predator almost as if by premonition.

Wu Tietou opened his mouth and let out a powerful roar, venting the fear in his heart. Meanwhile, he desperately jumped between the falling giant rocks, avoiding the four enormous spiders that descended from above.

These terrifying monsters were insanely large. Their tentacles were nearly a hundred meters long, and their main bodies were over twenty meters in size. As they fell from the top of the stone pillars, they seemed like four heavy clouds crashing down.

"Hiss, hiss!" The bloated abdomen of the giant spiders writhed violently, and thick, milky white fluid sprayed out, quickly forming a massive spider web that covered an area of hundreds of meters.

The two beasts that had been relentlessly chasing Wu Tietou were trapped in the spider webs. The sticky webs were incredibly resilient, and the two beasts struggled and roared but were firmly bound by the spider webs.

Wu Tietou flew past under one of the spider's tentacles; his body was so small that the spider didn't even notice him.

He crashed heavily into a crumbling stalagmite but didn't look back as he continued his escape.

The four giant spiders continued to spew spider webs and entangled the two beasts. Both beasts struggled wildly, but they couldn't free themselves from the spider webs.

Wu Tietou fled from the collapsing forest of stone pillars and escaped with all his might.

Suddenly, the larger beast raised its head. It let out a hysterical roar, and a large blue flame surged out of its mouth, quickly covering an area of hundreds of meters.

The white spider webs turned into blue smoke in an instant. The two beasts ignored Wu Tietou, rushing towards the four giant spiders in a fit of rage.

Dozens of giant stone pillars instantly collapsed, and the beasts and spiders entangled with each other. The six enormous creatures roared and rolled, their blood and colorful bodily fluids splattering like a torrential rain in all directions.

Wu Tietou barely escaped three to five miles away when the smaller beast was suddenly pierced by three slender and sharp tentacles. The two giant spiders on either side lifted the smaller beast, hoisting it tens of meters into the air.

Countless scorching hot blood spewed out like flames from the beast's body, drenching an area of hundreds of meters. The flames burned brightly, illuminating the surrounding forest of stone pillars.

The other beast spewed out a flame, piercing through the bloated abdomen of one of the large spiders. Just as it was about to kill the spider entirely, it suddenly saw its companion being slain by the enemy. The beast let out a mournful cry.

The dying spider and its companion simultaneously extended all their tentacles, piercing through the body of the remaining beast.

Wu Tietou heard the terrifying cries of these giant creatures. He took a breath, stopped his footsteps, and glanced back. He saw the larger beast's body suddenly swell, and a dazzling halo rapidly expanded within it.

The light was several times brighter than the false sun above the Wu family stronghold.

In the next moment, intense light and terrifying flames swept across the area. The beast self-detonated, and flames and high temperatures covered an area of two to three miles. Over a hundred giant stone pillars instantly shattered, and the powerful shockwaves turned into circles of red heatwaves, rapidly spreading in all directions.

"Ah~!" Wu Tietou instinctively screamed as the shockwave swept over him. He flew through the air like a falling leaf, carried away uncontrollably for several hundred meters before crashing into a dense fern grove.

The heatwave rolled, and the leaves of the ferns withered and turned yellow within a very short time. Soon, the entire fern grove within a few miles burst into flames.

Wu Tietou was enveloped in the fierce flames, and his body burned. The faint light flowed on his pale-colored tight-fitting armor, and the temperature inside the armor began to rise rapidly.

Gasping for breath and enduring the pain in his chest, Wu Tietou staggered to his feet and carefully walked through the sea of fire, striving to flee in the opposite direction of the forest of stone pillars.

"Old Iron, you didn't mention that some of those big boys would explode like this..." Wu Tietou gasped for breath, finally escaping the burning fern grove. He silently slid off his face mask and gasped for air, spitting out a mouthful of blackened blood.

The ground trembled violently, and Wu Tietou subconsciously looked back to see the entire forest of stone pillars suddenly sinking.

The ground trembled vigorously, the stone pillars sinking one after another into the ground. In just a few breaths, the forest of stone pillars for dozens of miles completely collapsed, leaving behind a concave pit emitting thick smoke and heat.

"Whoosh, whoosh!" A strong cold wind blew out of the pit, quickly dissipating the flames and smoke. The charred vines and moss attached to the stone pillars continued to emit thick smoke, spreading in all directions under the influence of the cold wind.

Wu Tietou wiped his face, which was covered in a mixture of blood, sweat, and the foul-smelling yolk, and gritted his teeth. He muttered, "Luolin..." in annoyance, spun around, and followed the traces left by the beasts, sprinting back in the direction he came from.

Killing several prey along the way to replenish his energy and practicing a foundational technique once to adjust his body to the optimal state, Wu Tietou ran for more than two hundred miles before he heard a piercing howl in the distance.

The sound was familiar, seeming to be the voice of the young man with the long bow next to Luolin.

Wu Tietou laughed a few times, lifted his long spear with a few swift motions, and rushed madly toward the direction of the agonizing howl.

Flying and gliding forward in mid-air for a while, Wu Tietou saw a group of familiar figures in a depression ahead.

Shi Lingqing was surrounded by two Niu tribe warriors and three human guards, watching Luolin roaring tens of meters away with a smile that seemed like a smile yet not.

Beside Luolin, only Wu Laoda and Ding remained. Wu Laoda's left hand had been cut off at the shoulder, and Ding was using a burlap cloth to bandage the wound. Fresh blood flowed like a small stream, steadily dripping down Ding's arm.

In the middle of Shi Lingqing and Luolin, there was a dubious-looking youth with fair skin and an androgynous appearance. Expressionless, he held a chain knife while observing Luolin. On his back, he rested a white foot on Luolin's head. The chain knife was tightly pressed against Luolin's neck.

Wu Tietou silently landed on the ground and cautiously crawled over, taking advantage of the cover provided by several large fern leaves.

From dozens of meters away, Wu Tietou could see that the chain knife in the youth's hand had already cut open Luolin's neck. A thin line of blood continued to flow down Luolin's neck.

"Old Iron, you didn't mention that some of those big boys would explode like this..." Wu Tietou gasped for breath, barely able to escape the burning fern grove. He silently slid off his face mask, gasping for air and spitting out blackened blood.

The ground trembled violently, and Wu Tietou subconsciously turned his head. He saw the vast forest of stone pillars suddenly sink.

The ground trembled intensely, and the stone pillars sank continuously into the ground. In just a few breaths, the forest of stone pillars for dozens of miles sank completely, leaving behind a concave pit emitting thick smoke.

"Whoosh, whoosh!" A strong cold wind blew out of the pit, quickly dissipating the flames and smoke. The charred vines and moss attached to the stone pillars continued to emit thick smoke, spreading in all directions under the influence of the cold wind.

Killing several prey along the way to replenish his energy and practicing a foundational technique once to adjust his body to the optimal state, Wu Tietou ran for more than two hundred miles before he heard a piercing howl in the distance.

The voice was familiar, as though it belonged to the young man with the long bow next to Luolin.

Wu Tietou laughed a few times, swiftly raised his spear, and rushed towards the direction of the agonizing howl.

Flying and gliding forward for a while, Wu Tietou saw several familiar figures in a depression ahead.

Shi Lingqing was surrounded by two Niu tribe warriors and three human guards, observing Luolin's loud roars with a smile that seemed like a smile yet not.

Beside Luolin, only Wu Laoda and Ding remained. Wu Laoda's left hand had been cut off at the shoulder, and Ding was using a burlap cloth to bandage the wound. Fresh blood flowed like a small stream, dripping down Ding's arm.

In the middle of Shi Lingqing and Luolin stood a youth with fair skin and a sharply defined face. He held a longbow in his hand, and his legs had been severed below the knees. One of his feet was resting on Luolin's head, and a chain knife was pressed against Luolin's neck.

Wu Tietou silently landed on the ground, taking advantage of the cover provided by several large fern leaves. He snuck closer, while all of Shi Lingqing's group, focused on Luolin, completely ignored the cold light that wasn't directed at them.

Luolin, Wu Laoda, and Ding immediately fled, and the Niu tribe warrior holding onto Wind Feather screamed in pain. A flash of an extremely thin cold light flew out from Luolin's hand.

Wu Tietou's body was trembling uncontrollably, and he couldn't help but shiver.

Luolin, Wu Laoda, and Ding retreated, and just before their retreat, it seemed that Luolin would go all out just to use the flying knife to kill Wind Feather.

Wu Tietou couldn't understand this behavior.

He gritted his teeth, leaped into the air suddenly, and swiftly chased after Luolin and the others.

Shi Lingqing suddenly saw a white figure flying out from the fern grove. She couldn't help but exclaim, furrowing her brows.

It's National Day, everyone, Happy National Day. To all brothers and sisters who are away from home, have fun and eat to your heart's content!

The most important thing is to eat well!

Hmm, I wish everyone a prosperous and bountiful National Day!
