Chronicles of Heaven

Chapter 20 Unbreakable

10 min read

Wutie flew up into the air, and as the large chunks of rocks fell like raindrops, Shi Lingqing's lips curved into a joyful smile.

In contrast, Luo Lin let out a low roar. He swung his broadsword in the air, shattering seven or eight incoming rocks. A new young man who had just arrived behind him simultaneously waved his hands, and dozens of shining silver triangular nails were launched into the air.

The triangular nails shimmered with a faint cold light and accurately hit the falling rocks.

These triangular nails were the size of a little finger, heavy and sharp. They made a dull thudding sound as they smashed the rocks into bean-sized fragments. When these fragments fell on Luo Lin and the others, they no longer had any killing power.

"Go, kill them!" Luo Lin shouted and took the initiative to engage Wu Tie. "Nail, cooperate with me!"

As soon as Luo Lin moved, Nail gave his waist pouch a pat, and the flying triangular nails immediately flew back into the pouch like a group of cheerful bees.

The other six young men rushed towards Shi Lingqing and her group, and the young man called 'Nail' followed closely behind Luo Lin. Just as Luo Lin attacked, Nail swung his right hand, and the three triangular nails swept along an arc, heading towards Wu Tie's body.

Wu Tie glided in the air, unable to evade them.

The triangular nails came swiftly, carrying a trace of cold wind as they pierced into Wu Tie's left and right chests and abdomen.

A crisp sound was heard, and sparks flickered as the triangular nails rebounded. It seemed that Wu Tie's seemingly slender tight-fit armor did not leave a single mark.

Nail's eyes lit up. "Good armor!"

Wu Tie's feet landed heavily, just in front of Luo Lin, and his spear stabbed straight towards Luo Lin's chest.

Luo Lin swung his broadsword heavily, striking the spear head-on.

With a loud bang, Shi Lingqing and her group, along with the six charging young men, all turned to look in their direction.

Wu Tie's arms trembled slightly, feeling a lesser force coming from Luo Lin's broadsword than he had imagined. Instead, Wu Tie's strength overwhelmingly suppressed Luo Lin's. His spear broke Luo Lin's broadsword, and the spearhead directly stabbed towards Luo Lin's chest.

Luo Lin let out a strange cry and quickly moved backward. At the same time, two small daggers flew out from his waist pouch, emitting a chilling light as they heavily chopped towards Wu Tie.

Wu Tie swung his spear with both hands, creating an arc, and one of the daggers was knocked away. The other dagger was too fast and passed closely by the spear, firmly stabbing into Wu Tie's waist.

There was another crisp sound, and sparks flickered as the tight-fit armor remained unscathed. Instead, the dagger was rebounded.

"Good!" Wu Tie couldn't help but shout excitedly.

He pressed lightly between his chest and abdomen on a slightly raised rhombus, and both the cuffs and collar of his tight-fit armor emitted a faint light. The armor wriggled, and a pale gold metallic liquid flowed out quickly, covering his hands and head.

The metallic liquid solidified, enveloping Wu Tie's entire body.

In his eyes were two thin crimson crystal pieces, flickering with ferocious bloody light. Matched with the pale gold armor covering his body, he looked quite fierce. "I said, this is my territory. You are not allowed to act here."

After his head was completely covered in armor, Wu Tie's voice became low and rigid, carrying a hint of ear-jarring metallic sound.

Luo Lin roared, swinging his broadsword. The two daggers revolved around him, flying rapidly and producing piercing sounds. His body burst open and split into three illusory figures, charging at Wu Tie.

Wu Tie was caught off guard by Luo Lin's speed and the technique of splitting his body into images. He only heard the sound of the wind breaking, and shadows moved around him chaotically. Before Wu Tie could figure out where exactly his enemy was, flashes of the broadsword struck him dozens of times, and the two daggers chopped him dozens of times.

Wu Tie remained motionless in his place.

With his pale tight-fit armor still shining spotlessly, despite Luo Lin's frenzied attacks, not a single trace was left behind.

The young man called Nail shouted loudly behind Luo Lin. He patted his waist pouch with his left hand, and dozens of triangular nails flickered with a cold gleam as they flew towards Wu Tie. However, just like before, only scattered sparks were seen, and not a single triangular nail could harm Wu Tie.

Having been attacked so fiercely for a while, Wu Tie gradually got used to Luo Lin's storm-like offensive.

The invisible force field around his body could already capture Luo Lin's figure. Among the three illusory figures, only one was the real Luo Lin.

Suddenly, Wu Tie shouted loudly. The air around him suddenly froze, and two of Luo Lin's illusory figures instantly disintegrated, leaving only his real body frozen in front of Wu Tie's right side.

This was the most convenient position for Wu Tie to attack. With a faint cold light emanating from his spear, he aimed its tip at Luo Lin's thigh.

Wu Tie did not intend to kill.

From the beginning of this battle, he never had a strong desire to fight. If it weren't for Shi Lingqing... Wu Tie might not have even made a move against Luo Lin's group.

So he only wanted to heavily injure Luo Lin. If he could wound his thigh, then Luo Lin would calm down for a while, right?

Among the six young men who were launching an offensive against Shi Lingqing and her group, one of the newcomers suddenly stopped in his tracks. He rubbed his hands together, and a sandy-yellow stone pillar with the thickness of a rice bowl materialized out of thin air in his hands.

He held the stone pillar in both hands and slammed it forcefully onto the ground. The surrounding ground immediately rippled like water.

Within a hundred meters, everyone's stability was compromised. Wu Tie's strike, too, lost its accuracy and only grazed Luo Lin's thigh. The spear tip was too sharp and tore open Luo Lin's pants, leaving a half-inch-deep blood mark on his thigh.

Blood splattered, and Luo Lin howled in pain. He let go of his broadsword, which flew out and lodged deeply into Wu Tie's chest.

This attack was much stronger than the strikes of the two daggers. Although it still couldn't penetrate Wu Tie's armor, it felt as if Wu Tie had been struck by a city-destroying hammer head-on, causing him to lose balance and fly more than ten meters backward.

The broadsword vibrated violently, and the blade was almost bent. Wu Tie's tight-fit armor remained gleaming and completely unharmed. The broadsword shot up tens of meters high when it was forcefully flung away.

Luo Lin shouted, and once again turned into three illusory figures, leaping more than ten meters high. With one hand grasping the broadsword, his body descended towards Wu Tie from the air.

The sword light shone, reflecting in Wu Tie's eyes.

This overhead dive was extraordinarily fierce, with the blade aiming directly at Wu Tie's neck.

Wu Tie was about to dodge, but the young man with the sandy-yellow stone pillar waved his hand. Seemingly heavy, the stone pillar floated lightly and flew over a hundred meters before heavily falling several meters in front of Wu Tie.

The stone pillar emitted a yellow light, and the ground squirmed. Two rocky arms abruptly emerged from the ground and firmly grabbed Wu Tie's thigh.

Wu Tie's body trembled and became immobile.

Luo Lin roared, and in a swift movement, the longsword struck Wu Tie's neck fiercely.

Sparks flew, and Luo Lin's longsword vibrated violently. The blade bent almost to the point of fracturing. Wu Tie's tight-fit armor remained untarnished, leaving no traces behind.

With Luo Lin's body still in mid-air, Wu Tie thrust his spear towards him.

Luo Lin clearly intended to decapitate Wu Tie, showing no mercy in his attack.

Enraged, Wu Tie's heart burned with fury. He did the same as he had been taught by Wu Zhan: if someone wants to kill you, kill them in advance!

"Prepare in advance to prevent trouble"—Wu Zhan had said this in a poetic manner.

Luo Lin exerted too much force, and his body, still in mid-air, had lost its ability to dodge.

Behind, Nail shouted a few times, and dozens of triangular nails flew towards Luo Lin. The triangular nails struck Luo Lin's clothes, violently knocking his body off balance by half a foot or so.

Blood splattered, and the sound of flesh and bone tearing was clearly audible.

The spear pierced through Luo Lin's left shoulder, and Wu Tie vigorously waved both his hands. Luo Lin screamed in pain as he was flung by the spear and heavily crashed onto the ground.

Now, Wu Tie's arms swung, and four more rock arms appeared. They grabbed his thighs and waist. The sandy-yellow stone pillar suddenly flew up and smashed down towards Wu Tie's head.

Wu Tie let out a low growl. His body shook violently, and his full strength erupted. The rock arms made a piercing cracking sound as they shattered under Wu Tie's struggle. Wu Tie swept horizontally with his spear and mercilessly struck the stone pillar.

The stone pillar, seemingly light and insubstantial, unexpectedly weighed several thousand pounds.

But this weight meant little to Wu Tie. With a swing of his spear, the stone pillar was smashed away tens of meters, pulverizing a giant rock in the distance.

"I said, this is my territory. You are not allowed to act here."

In the slushy mud pit, Luo Lin, who was coughing up blood, struggled to get up. Wu Tie stepped forward and firmly grabbed his head with his left hand.

Unwittingly, Wu Tie recalled the heads he had cleaned in the Wu family's stone fortress.

Luo Lin's neck was fragile, and Wu Tie felt it clearly. If he wanted to, with a gentle twist, he could easily tear Luo Lin's head off...

Blue veins protruded on Luo Lin's forehead. His whole body stiffened, and he gasped for breath in large mouthfuls.

Wu Tie could feel the anger and despair filling Luo Lin's heart, but there was no trace of fear.

Anger and despair, but no fear.

Wu Tie tightened his grip, and Luo Lin's hair emitted a sound of breaking.

At a distance of several meters, Nail suddenly shouted. He abruptly knelt down in front of Wu Tie with a loud 'thud', "Let go of Luo Lin... We, we..."

Clearly, Nail, who still had some childishness on his face, was not good with words. He pressed both hands on the ground and knocked his head down three times with a 'thud thud thud'. In front of him just happened to be a sharp stone, his forehead split open, and fresh blood flowed down, covering his face.

Wu Tie's heart convulsed fiercely.

At this moment, Nail's figure and Wu Jin's figure seemed to overlap.

The fiery anger and murderous intent in Wu Tie's heart disappeared like the receding tide. He slowly released his left hand, picked up Luo Lin, and threw him in front of Nail.

"This is my territory." Wu Tie repeated his stance once again.

Shi Lingqing and her group quickly approached Wu Tie. From a distance, Shi Lingqing coquettishly called out, "Master, please help us..."

The young man who controlled the sandy-yellow stone pillar took two steps forward and said in a heavy voice, "We'll abide by this gentleman's request. We won't take action on this gentleman's territory."

Wu Tie nodded his head.

Nail carefully stood up, took a look at Wu Tie, and then picked up Luo Lin, who had suffered multiple broken bones, quickly returning to his companions.

Shi Lingqing looked at Luo Lin's group, gritted her teeth, and walked briskly towards Wu Tie. However, Wu Tie ignored her. With a leap, he glided away like a bird, using the momentum of the fern forest to run far.

Shi Lingqing couldn't catch up, and she could only call out "Master" a few times in a coquettish voice, but she didn't receive any response from Wu Tie.

Shi Lingqing's group and Wu Tie's group stood two hundred meters apart, facing each other for a while. After staring at each other for a while, Shi Lingqing and her companions slowly retreated after Wu Tie vanished into the distance. Only when the two sides were more than a mile apart did they turn around and follow behind Shi Lingqing.

The seven young men, who were looking at the heavily injured Luo Lin, turned to the young man holding the stone pillar and said, "Boss!"

The young man gritted his teeth and, alternatingly, looked in the direction Wu Tie had gone and the direction where Shi Lingqing and her group were.

After a long time, he finally said coldly, "She said we can't afford to prolong it? Well, we'll prolong it with her. I'll take responsibility for all consequences. Regardless, we must avenge Old Third properly."

"Tooth for tooth, blood for blood. If you kill one of us, we'll slaughter everyone in your family." The young man's voice was bone-chillingly cold, sending shivers down one's spine.

Lying in Nail's arms, Luo Lin opened his eyes and weakly said, "Big Brother Wu, is that kid's armor... a treasure? Why can't we break it?"

Luo Lin's face was pale, and his voice was extremely weak.

Wu, the big brother, stared blankly at the direction Wu Tie had disappeared, suddenly smiling. "You're right, that kid is hard to deal with. His armor is probably a treasure. He won't let us take action? But what are we here for?"

"We are the Mist Blades, we are assassins, we are killers, we are the reapers who walk in the dark... Who said we have to kill head-on?"

A wisp of smoke curled up as Wu Tie squatted on a small hill, cooking barbecue while overlooking Shi Lingqing and her group.

Suddenly, from afar, a wailing cry of a member of the Bull Tribe was heard.
