"A-Xian?!"
Next door, Zhu Qiniang sensed something amiss, calling out anxiously for Gao Xian.
"I'm fine."
Gao Xian, noticing Zhu Qiniang approaching with a sword, quickly got out of bed and welcomed her in.
The bedroom still carried a strong scent of ashes, with a lingering unpleasant odor.
Zhu Qiniang's gaze flickered, finding no trace of enemies.
She looked at Gao Xian in surprise.
"It was an evil spirit, I killed it with the Nine Yang Talisman."
Gao Xian, now composed, though his expression still grim.
In the dim light, Zhu Qiniang could see the lingering fear on Gao Xian's face.
She affectionately held his hand, "As long as it's dead, don't dwell on it too much."
"Damn, it almost scared the piss out of me."
Gao Xian, looking frightened, said, "I dare not sleep now."
Zhu Qiniang comforted softly, "It's alright now, why don't you sleep with me?"
"Okay!"
Gao Xian readily agreed, this was also his intention.
The room had an unpleasant smell, Zhu Qiniang opened the window and closed the door securely.
She and Gao Xian returned to the western bedroom.
It was the darkest and coldest hour of the night.
Gao Xian took off his outer robe as soon as he entered the room, slipping under the covers.
Zhu Qiniang didn't remove her outer clothes, lying down beside Gao Xian.
