The imposing presence of Sejong radiated from his seat.
The chieftains, feeling the weight of his aura, immediately knelt and offered their respects upon seeing him.
Observing the chieftains bowing to him, Sejong commanded in Jurchen, “Rise.” The chieftains, surprised by Sejong's fluent Jurchen, stood up. ‘The king of Joseon was born and raised in Joseon! Yet, how could he be so skilled in Jurchen!’ Whether he was aware of the chieftains' thoughts or not, Sejong continued speaking. “It has been quite some time since I ascended the throne, but due to various matters, I have been unable to meet with you. You have served my grandfather, King Taejo, faithfully, and this reflects my own shortcomings… Thus, I have called you here.”
“Your grace is boundless!”
“I have prepared accommodations at Bukpyeonggwan, so please rest today, and I shall meet with you tomorrow.”
“We shall obey your command!” The chieftains bowed once more.
After Sejong disappeared inside, the chieftains, guided by the interpreters and the royal guards, left Gwanghwamun and headed to Bukpyeonggwan.
Once they settled their belongings at Bukpyeonggwan, they gathered in the banquet hall.
