Learning skills has always been a headache for Beast Masters. If one has money, it’s easy enough to send their Contract Beast to various training institutions. These institutions usually list the skills they teach and have a range of specialized learning methods. These methods are like intellectual property and are ways for them to make money, so they won’t freely share this information with others.
If one doesn't have money, they must research how to learn on their own. Many Beast Masters will search online and discuss with others to gather different ideas, and no one would complain about it. Recently, someone boldly claimed to know how to learn Meteor Fire Rain, which clearly indicated they had some experience.
Qiao Sang felt a surge of excitement and was about to respond when the person quickly sent another message. “Just 19,998. Learn how to do it, message me for details.”
Qiao Sang: “...”
Pfft! So, it turns out to be a scammer. They didn’t even check the market price for learning Meteor Fire Rain. This price seems exaggerated even if I added a zero.
Ignoring the person, Qiao Sang waited for others to join the discussion. Soon, a few comments appeared.
“Front row, same request.”
“First, you need a Fire-type Contract Beast.”
“What the person above said is wrong. You first need a High-level Fire-type Contract Beast.”
“High-level alone isn’t enough; it needs to be Legendary.”
Seeing this, Qiao Sang typed a quick reply. “What if it’s a Low-level one?”
As soon as this statement was made, the comments flooded in.
“Forget it, the original poster is foolish.”
“Before talking about how to learn, does a Low-level Fire-type Beast even have enough energy to release Meteor Fire Rain? It wouldn't work even if you drained it!”
“Meteor Fire Rain feels like lighting fireworks. The original poster should just buy some fireworks and study them!”
“Energy balls are round, just like fireballs. One gathers the Fire-type energy inside, while the other releases it outward. You can start with fireballs instead.”
“Instead of figuring out how to learn Meteor Fire Rain, why not figure out how to make money to learn it?”
“I’m no expert, but I once researched how Low-level Beasts can learn high-level skills. Now, I’m living well in a mental hospital.”
Though many comments lacked serious replies, Qiao Sang still gleaned some valuable information. One major reason Low to Mid-level Beasts can’t learn high-level skills is their insufficient internal energy. High-level skills consume energy that her Fire Fang Dog isn’t able to handle right now.
The fastest solution would be to evolve the Fire Fang Dog, but it simply couldn’t evolve at this moment. However, it might still be possible to increase its energy without evolution. After all, the Fire Fang Dog was still in its growth stage and hadn't yet reached saturation in energy.
Additionally, another piece of information revealed that an energy ball represents a condensed state of energy. To form an energy ball, one would need to master Fire-type energy at an advanced level. With the help of her special ability to amplify proficiency, achieving this wouldn't be difficult.
Qiao Sang lowered her head and began writing down training strategies, formulating targeted goals for the Fire Fang Dog's training over the next period. Just as she focused on writing, a knock echoed from outside the door.
She set down her pen and went to open it.
“Mom, what are you doing here?” Qiao Sang asked in surprise.
Her mother stood at the door looking weary, her usually meticulous makeup had smudged and wasn't touched up. Did something happen?
Just as Qiao Sang was deep in thought, her mother’s expression suddenly relaxed. She smiled gently.
“I heard from your third aunt that you encountered a murderer today. I was worried and came to see you. Now that I see you are fine, I feel relieved.”
Qiao Sang was taken aback, a hint of bitterness rising in her heart. Everyone was astonished by her luck and praised her ability, but no one had asked if she was okay.
Feigning indifference, Qiao Sang said, “You could have just called, no need to come all this way. Is tomorrow a day off for you?”
Her mother smiled, “How did you know? I’ve planned to go shopping with Aunt Wang tomorrow.”
Qiao Sang: “...”
Her mother’s visit was a small interlude. The next day at noon, her mother took off on a Plump Dove to the train station. It seemed she forgot about going shopping with Aunt Wang.
The little treasure seeker had slept through the night and was yet to wake up, though the redness on its face had faded.
On the morning of training, the Fire Fang Dog was spinning in circles. It was astonished by the changes occurring in its body. In just a second, its fur had grown longer, its body inexplicably taller, and its claws were sharper.
“Yabao, release sparks now and use up all your internal energy,” Qiao Sang instructed.
Upon hearing her command, the Fire Fang Dog halted but nearly stumbled as it felt dizzy. It was surprised to find there was suddenly more energy within itself.
“Yah?”
The Fire Fang Dog tilted its head, confused but excited, looking at its Beast Master.
“This is the benefit of the contract. See how much faster your Contract Beasts improve compared to those in the training center?” Qiao Sang teased.
This wasn’t entirely false; she was simply using her special ability. Just now, she had directly added 600 points to the Fire Fang Dog's level. Currently, the Beastmaster Codex showed the Fire Fang Dog's level as [Beginner (800/1000)+].
The changes observed in the Fire Fang Dog lined up with her expectations. The points behind its level represented how much energy it had accumulated in its Beginner phase.
The prerequisites for a Contract Beast to evolve include energy accumulation and a transformative opportunity. The latter encompasses multiple factors including evolution items, environment, intimacy with the Beast Master, or mastering specific skills up to a certain degree.
For energy accumulation, it was simpler. The higher the points for the Fire Fang Dog’s level, the more energy it had inside. Since Meteor Fire Rain was an energy-intensive skill, she would first attempt to boost its energy without evolving the dog.
As for the remaining 200 points, she dared not add arbitrarily, especially with a month and a half left before the exam. She decided against telling the Fire Fang Dog about her special ability, fearing it might become complacent and rely solely on it without putting in the effort.
“Yah!”
The Fire Fang Dog understood at last. It eagerly drew upon its internal energy.
Thirty minutes later, the Fire Fang Dog lay exhausted on the ground after releasing sparks 320 times.
Qiao Sang immediately offered it milk.
Even though everything went as she’d guessed, witnessing the Fire Fang Dog expelling so much energy made Qiao Sang feel a little dazed. This special ability was indeed powerful...
At 3:12 PM in her room.
“Look at this water balloon,” Qiao Sang said, holding up a freshly filled mini balloon towards the Fire Fang Dog. “To learn Meteor Fire Rain, you first have to master condensing an energy ball, which is just like this water balloon. All the energy gathers together inside this balloon like the water.”
“From the outside, it looks unremarkable, but you must realize it contains enormous energy. Take it and feel it.”
“Yah.”
The Fire Fang Dog nodded solemnly and extended a paw to take it.
“Bang!”
As its sharp claw touched the water balloon, it exploded, sending water everywhere.
Fire Fang Dog: “...”
