Beast Taming: Starting From Zero

Chapter 93 A Gift from a Friend

5 min read

Ye Ranran looked in disbelief at everything before her. Who could tell her why Qiao Sang was on Huangming Mountain?! Moreover, the fire-tooth dog that had just knocked down the Thunderbreeze Bird was definitely Qiao Sang's!

The scene in front of Ye Ranran was overwhelming, leaving her frozen in place. A middle-aged woman who had come with her quickly jumped off the Wind Hawk and rushed over to Qiao Sang, asking, "Child, did you call the police?"

At that moment, Qiao Sang was lost in the ecstasy of her fire-tooth dog’s triumph when a voice startled her. Turning around, she saw a woman of average height, slightly plump, dressed in a police uniform.

"It was me!” Qiao Sang replied. She hadn’t expected someone to show up mid-call like this. If this were her past life, she would never have seen such efficiency.

Seeing that the girl who had called the police was alright, the middle-aged woman let out a relieved sigh.

"Ya!" At that moment, the fire-tooth dog ran up to Qiao Sang, vigilantly staring at the sudden arrival.

"Where's Zhou Xian?" the middle-aged woman asked, glancing at the fire-tooth dog. With years of experience, she quickly pieced together the scenario.

The Thunderbreeze Bird lay unconscious, and there was another dark form on the ground that she couldn't identify as a beast, along with a fire-tooth dog that clearly didn't belong in this level of battle. There must be another Beast Master on the mountain who could contend with Zhou Xian, and their rank was undoubtedly high. The dark beast on the ground was likely that Beast Master's, but where were they?

They needed to hurry and help him. It was possible that they wouldn't even need to wait for backup; together they could apprehend Zhou Xian.

Qiao Sang pointed to the grass behind her, saying, “Over there.”

The fire-tooth dog observed the interaction between Qiao Sang and the newcomers, and its guard finally eased.

The middle-aged woman paused for a moment, then alertly turned to look behind her. When she saw a man lying on the ground with two bumps on his head and his hands tied, she froze in shock. This was Zhou Xian?!

Taking a deep breath, the woman hurried over and squatted down for a closer look. Though the man’s current state was quite tragic, his handsome face was unmistakable.

It really was Zhou Xian!

The middle-aged woman was stunned. Why was he unconscious? What were those bumps on his head? And why did the bindings on his hands look so much like shoelaces?

On the way here, she had imagined countless scenarios she might face, but never this one!

At that moment, Ye Ranran approached with a strange expression and asked Qiao Sang, "Ah Sang, how did you end up on this mountain? Did you run into anyone? And why did your fire-tooth dog fight with the Thunderbreeze Bird?"

Qiao Sang turned in surprise, exclaiming, "Sister Ranran, you came too!"

There were too many questions, and Qiao Sang didn’t know which to answer first. What was most important was that she hadn’t collected the beast head!

"Shikui," Qiao Sang called out.

The Shikui Spirit weakly responded. After seeing the Thunderbreeze Bird fall, it was filled with regret. How did things turn out like this? Why did they end up fighting among themselves?

Right, it was all because of this human in front of them. That detestable human!

The Shikui Spirit stared fiercely at Qiao Sang and fainted from anger. Before losing consciousness, it vaguely felt someone sad, calling its name.

Master...

"Shikui Spirit!" Qiao Sang shouted in anguish.

That was her points!

Beside her, Ye Ranran was stunned. The Shikui Spirit? Zhou Xian’s beast? That black lump? "Ah Sang, what exactly is going on?" Ye Ranran asked in confusion.

The middle-aged woman looked over, although surprised that Ye Ranran knew this girl, there was clearly no time for such trivial matters now.

She stared intently at Qiao Sang, waiting for her answer. Finally recovering from her grief over the Shikui Spirit fainting without her collecting the head, Qiao Sang recounted everything that had happened. There was nothing to hide.

When the other police officers arrived, they were greeted by the sight of their blooming flower and the old guard, mouths agape in foolish astonishment.

The capture of the Silver-tailed Sea Serpent was unexpectedly easy; when the group found it, it was still asleep, just like its master.

...

"Ah Sang, you need to come with me to the police station to give a statement.” Ye Ranran chuckled, “Your luck is unparalleled! When you go home, tell Aunt San about this. She’ll surely be shocked!”

Qiao Sang nodded. This was not her first time giving a statement.

"I need to go home first; my bag is still there," Qiao Sang replied.

"Why do you need your bag? It's just for a statement. I’ll take you home afterward," Ye Ranran smiled, patting Qiao Sang's shoulder.

Qiao Sang paused for a moment and said seriously, “I didn't remember my account number. My bank card is in that bag.”

“Why do you need your bank card?” Ye Ranran asked, curious.

Qiao Sang didn’t speak but silently met her gaze. The silence spoke volumes.

After a moment.

Ye Ranran: "!!!"

She realized, staring at Qiao Sang, speechless for a while.

What?! Her cousin, who just graduated middle school, was about to become a millionaire?!

As they were about to leave Huangming Mountain, Qiao Sang suddenly asked the still dazed Ye Ranran, “Do you have any food on you?”

Ye Ranran, lost in thought, replied, “Food? What food? What do you mean?”

Qiao Sang: “…”

“Do you have any food with you?” Qiao Sang asked again.

“I’m on a diet, so I didn’t bring food,” Ye Ranran replied, pausing to add, “Mainly because I'm broke.”

Qiao Sang: “…”

She had initially planned to give some food to the Magnetic Borrowing Mouse as a farewell, but all that she could eat was in Little Treasure Ghost's bag. In its current state, it probably wouldn’t even pay attention to her, and she’d need to take it to the Beastmaster Center for a check-up after going down the mountain.

Qiao Sang looked around but didn’t see the Magnetic Borrowing Mouse duo that she had been with.

“Ya!” At that moment, the fire-tooth dog barked towards a spot.

Qiao Sang turned to see two yellow heads, one big and one small, peeking at her from a pile of grass.

As soon as Qiao Sang looked over, the two Magnetic Borrowing Mice smiled amicably and then one small claw pushed a green fruit out from the grass.

It was a Plump Fruit.

Surprised, Qiao Sang walked over and picked up the Plump Fruit. She pushed aside the grass, but the two Magnetic Borrowing Mice had already vanished.

Holding the Plump Fruit, Qiao Sang fell into deep thought.

Ye Ranran came over and exclaimed in surprise, “Did you just pick this up from the ground? I remember the tree that bears Plump Fruits is quite far from here.”

Coming back to her senses, Qiao Sang smiled, “No, a friend gave it to me.”
