The purpose of returning to her hometown this summer was to help the Fire Tooth Dog train in order to evolve. Finding some wild extraordinary creatures to battle was part of that training. Qiao Sang’s favorite spot was the small woods in Tan'an Township. Climbing the mountain could be troublesome, while the small woods there were on flat ground, making it easy to come and go.
However, since she was already at the foot of Huangming Mountain, she figured she would take the opportunity to train with some wild contracted beasts.
At Huangming Mountain, Qiao Sang carefully observed her surroundings. Although this was not a secret realm and high-ranking wild extraordinary creatures were unlikely to appear, she still needed to take necessary safety measures. The biggest taboo when encountering an environment with wild beasts was complacency.
The mountain path twisted and turned, and Qiao Sang walked along a narrow path with the Fire Tooth Dog and the Magnetic Brave Mouse leading the way. The surroundings were eerily quiet, and after walking for dozens of minutes, she hadn't seen a single wild beast.
Qiao Sang’s gaze focused on the Magnetic Brave Mouse that was ahead. It wasn't that there were no wild beasts at all…
The Magnetic Brave Mouse suddenly shivered, abruptly sensing a chill in the air.
Ten minutes later, Qiao Sang finally spotted her first wild beast—a Saddle Wool Worm. Its body was brown with a yellow-green vest, resembling a saddle covered in fine, white fuzz.
“Fire Tooth!” Qiao Sang called out immediately.
“Woof!”
The Fire Tooth Dog stopped in its tracks and assumed a fighting stance, while the Magnetic Brave Mouse was startled and also froze in place. The little treasure-seeking spirit perched on Qiao Sang's head curiously watched the scene unfold.
Hearing the commotion, the Saddle Wool Worm turned its head to glance in their direction and then nonchalantly continued crawling past Qiao Sang.
Qiao Sang was momentarily stunned. This was quite awkward…
Some basic wild beasts were rather simple-minded and lacked aggression; as long as they were not provoked, they generally wouldn’t attack for no reason. The Saddle Wool Worm clearly belonged to this category.
For creatures like this, Qiao Sang felt hesitant to take action.
“Woof?”
The Fire Tooth Dog looked at its beast master in confusion.
Qiao Sang coughed lightly and said, “It’s fine. I just wanted you to be careful while walking.”
“Woof.”
The Fire Tooth Dog felt a bit embarrassed, having misunderstood its master.
After another ten minutes on the mountain path, the Magnetic Brave Mouse stopped and pointed to a specific spot, making an inviting gesture.
“Magnetic.”
“Magnetic Magnetic.”
Without needing the Fire Tooth Dog to translate, Qiao Sang understood what the Magnetic Brave Mouse meant from its actions. Just as she was about to refuse, her peripheral vision suddenly caught sight of something moving.
Compared to the other patches of grass, the movement in that particular patch was especially noticeable.
“Fire Tooth!”
“Woof!”
The Fire Tooth Dog's expression changed, and it again took a battle stance. In the next moment, a slightly larger Magnetic Brave Mouse suddenly dashed out from the grass, launching an attack without hesitation.
Golden electric currents spread from its body, and a bolt of electricity shot straight towards Qiao Sang.
Seeing this, the Fire Tooth Dog acted without thinking and rushed forward to block the electric attack. Luckily, Qiao Sang was quick, grabbing the Fire Tooth Dog and rolling aside just in time.
The electric arc struck the ground, sending sparks flying and leaving a small crater.
“Woof!”
“Woof woof!”
The Fire Tooth Dog turned back, looking at Qiao Sang with concern. “I’m fine,” Qiao Sang quickly assured, shaking her head. She feared that if she hesitated, another electric attack might come her way.
Once the Fire Tooth Dog saw that Qiao Sang was alright, it erupted in red flames, glaring angrily at the Magnetic Brave Mouse that had just appeared, ready to charge at it. But when it was about to leap forward, it discovered the Magnetic Brave Mouse was hovering in midair.
“Magnetic!!!”
The floating Magnetic Brave Mouse struggled desperately, its eyes glaring at Qiao Sang, seeming like it wished to bite her.
Qiao Sang noticed the commotion and turned to look at the little treasure-seeking spirit beside her.
At this moment, the little spirit’s gaze was no longer filled with curiosity. It was radiating a blue light, floating in the air, its yellow pupils now a bright blue.
Qiao Sang was taken aback for a moment. Controlling objects with telekinesis was entirely different from controlling living beings and required vastly different amounts of energy. Yet somehow, the little spirit was managing to control another creature, and that creature was currently thrashing about wildly.
It was hard to believe that the little spirit had only been born four days ago…
The Fire Tooth Dog soon snapped back to reality. It dug in its rear legs, flames bursting forth again, and in a split second, it charged ahead. The speed was so rapid that it seemed like a flash of red light.
As the Fire Tooth Dog leapt toward the Magnetic Brave Mouse, a yellow figure suddenly appeared in front of it.
The Fire Tooth Dog's blazing charge was so forceful that it sent both the yellow figure and the Magnetic Brave Mouse behind it flying.
“Magnetic!”
“Magnetic!”
The two Magnetic Brave Mouses screamed in unison.
In no time, the two Magnetic Brave Mouses became unconscious.
Qiao Sang looked at the smaller Magnetic Brave Mouse that had rushed out to block her, realizing what had happened. The larger Magnetic Brave Mouse must have recognized the smaller one as a friend, which was why it chose to attack her.
Feeling sympathy, Qiao Sang gazed at the small Magnetic Brave Mouse lying on the ground, unconscious. This little one had really been through a lot these past few days. It had barely escaped only to encounter such a troublesome situation.
She felt that this experience could even be written into a book, and she had already thought of a title: “The Adventure of the Magnetic Brave Mouse.”
“Woof!”
“Woof!”
The Fire Tooth Dog, upon discovering it had knocked out a little buddy it had been chatting with, hurried to Qiao Sang's side, barking anxiously.
“It’s fine, you didn’t do it on purpose. Even if you had noticed it was blocking the way in such a short distance, you wouldn’t have been able to control your burning charge,” Qiao Sang comforted while patting the Fire Tooth Dog’s head. “I brought some medicine and can treat it.”
Not having a contracted beast with healing abilities, Qiao Sang had bought some healing medicine just in case. After contracting the little spirit, she had picked up some healing items at the beast base.
Even though they hadn’t ventured into a secret realm, it was always good to be prepared. Sure enough, it was coming in handy sooner than expected.
“Little Treasure, the medicine,” Qiao Sang called to the little spirit.
The Fire Tooth Dog already had a name, and Qiao Sang didn’t want to be unfair, but she couldn't think of a good name at the moment. So, she simply dropped the “spirit” from “treasure-seeking spirit” and called it “Little Treasure” instead. This name had been used for two days, and the little spirit was quite fond of it.
Right now, Little Treasure was floating beside the larger Magnetic Brave Mouse, preparing to use a Dream Recovery to regain its energy when Qiao Sang called out, causing Little Treasure to freeze, feeling as if it had been caught doing something wrong.
“Treasure~”
With determination, Little Treasure promptly gave up its earlier intention.
It floated back to Qiao Sang and pulled out a bottle of medical spray from a ring it had.
